What are your expectations for PM convos? What are your basic ground rules? I think we can all benefit from sharing on this!

A few things I'm curious about:

1. When things get hot and intense, is it ok to break the narrative? What's the best way to go about that?

2. Should you send a heads up if you have to go offline for an extended period?

3. What to do if you think someone isn't who they make themselves out to be?

But give us your advice and experience!

• be curious and interesting
• read the room
• if the conversation is popping off or getting sexy and you know you're going to have to disappear then it's always polite to let someone know
• it's just as valuable to know what someone doesn't like as it is to know what they do like

I have rules for pm’s when I rp. I always give a heads up if I have to go. And breaking the narrative? I would send a separate pm to the person I’m chatting with to let them know how intense and turned on I’m getting, but I keep the original narrative pm going

Thank you for this, PLP :). Really good guidelines. I'm takin notes over here!

I was wondering about that! The separate PM is smart. "Sidebar, your honor" ;)

The best way to deal with any situation is to be upfront and honest. If you have to go, just tell them, it really shouldn't matter how you do that. If you feel they're being sketchy, tell them that and always trust your instincts. If they are an emotionally mature adult then they'll understand and accept that you have a life outside Lit and certain expectations in regards to honesty. If they can't accept it then IMHO they aren't worth your time.

Nice. Makes total sense. Thanks, Burns!
