It's really simple. Laurel has an analytic algorithm program which rates every post for wit, brevity, factual accuracy, and most important of all, sarcastic wisdom. The scale is 0 to 100, with 100 being the top. Posters who rate in the 90 to 100 range get 48 cents for each post, plus 10 cents, each time it is quoted. The real money is in residuals. There is an 8 cent payment for eligible posts, each time the thread is opened by a Lit user. You can get paid for posts from past years. A few litsters have retired on post residuals and don't even bother to post anymore.

There is a $20 one time payment for when ever a botton 10% poster puts a 90%er on ignore.
