lol....I didn't say I didn't have a problem....I have a serious addiction to ellipses....I think it has something to do with all the heavy breathing I have to fit in between my thought.:D

Thank you sweetie, I did the scan disk, and will now defrag. ;)

I hope you understand why I haven't been in touch?

Not a problem, sounds like you big bears to kill on your end. Hope it all works!
:rose:

Intruiged my dear...

...do you ever see that stupid annoying kid on TV that is always selling those Dell computers? If you have a few $$$ laying around (699 singles would do), give him a call!

thinking backwards i just recalled you saying about your EX building this comp for you....hmmm...as a long time programmer I recall a certain strategy we used to impart with some of our products. We would install a sort of self-destruct worm in them just in case our customers decided to ever stop paying us...although I doubt your exhubby did something so evil it sounds like his workmanship left something to be desired...

My .02

Did scan disk correct all the errors?

I would suggest not doing anything else while defragging. . .especially if you are using the Windows defrag.

Do you have a virus program? If so, which one? At one point I was using McAfee until an update totally messed with my computer. Took me forever to figure out the problem.

BK....thanks dear!:rose:

Cutiepie! Hi sweets! (notes the lack of big grins in post....)

He built the computer a couple years ago, and always helps me with it when he can, so I don't think that's it.
Yes, it corrected all of the errors it found, and everything is going good again, so maybe that was the problem?
You seem to know yours stuff, and now I know who to bug!:D

Orwell, I meant to thank you personally for your advice. I have noticed you more and more lately, and I am quite impressed. :rose:

Glad you're up and running again. Sometimes we do need to take a break from the fun and do some preventive maintenance.

No smilies today. . .feeling a tad under the weather. I do have a story for ya though. . .probably best told in a PM. . .when I have a moment to write it!

Yeah!!!! (clapping)

I's PC is working right? Now, maybe she can exercise that other PC (muscle, that is);)

Roseville, I think I'll practice denial a little longer first.:D

Oops...my brain is so shot today that I took JB's reply and added it in with cutie pie, because I didn't realize it was JB's reply. :D Sorry, JB. :(

My, oh my...I think I need to go to bed.

cutiepatootie....write when you can, I certainly do understand.:rose:

Ummm...m'lady, all that went right over me because I'm braindead, but I am definetly nodding and grinning. :D

*takes a bow* :D

intrigued. . .check your PMs, dear. ;) It's short, but I think you'll get my drift. . .

Don't mind me. I'm just trying to catch up with someone I know

What's wrong with getting a Dell??

Well if she wants a better computer she already has most of the components she already needs, no need on spending all that money for a brand new system. She could simply buy a new motherboard, processor and some more ram for bout $200 and have a smoking system.

Ok, I thought maybe there was something I should know about Dell computers. Thanks for the clarification.

Intrigued, if you do decide to buy something new don't buy anything with a Celeron processor.

Thank you very much for your kind compliment. It is appreciated. Sounds like you PC is running better. Glad to hear that, so hopefully your stress levels and blood pressure are on the way down. Have a good remainder of the day. :)

active thread, wow.

always defrag over night... listening to your drive chug and grind for hours on end is no opera, so I wouldn't recommend going online and doing it. In addition, all the programs open while you defrag won't get sorted, so it's better to close _everything_ and defrag.

Throwing some money at the problem would also help. Since the system is a couple of years old, the memory for it is cheap. If it was me, I'd get some ram and turn off virtual memory (that will keep the grinding down to a minimum). For someone who doesn't know how to DIY I'd take it to a computer shop - they'll probably charge 30-40$ for it but it'd still be worth your time (which otherwise you'd spend waiting for your computer like you have).

... and the new flat screen dells are nice... (too bad I don't buy retail).

Wow! You guys are so sweet, and funny too! :D

bully...dear, I am getting to you, chill. ;)

Trish...thank you sweetie, and I will PM you soon about our phone call, things are a bit hectic right now, AND KooKoo fell off the front steps this morning and sprained her wrist, so she is home and in alot of pain...what a day!
Thanks...you are so sweet.

trying....thank you, but see, as long as its working, I cannot bear to disconnect, much less....OMG...*gasping*...replace it. ;)

Can you say addiction? :)

Orwell.....thank you kindly. My blood pressure is doing its thing very slowly, because I got so excited to be able to post in a timely manner again that I am more than a bit worked up!:D

Hope you have a lovely day too, you gave me a smile.:rose:

Thanks all!

Umm...you had me, I was right there with you until you said "turn off the virtual memory". But OKOK...I will find out how, because I am *tough*. :D

Thank you, very nice advice, and I appreciate your time. :rose:
