Orwell.....thank you kindly. My blood pressure is doing its thing very slowly, because I got so excited to be able to post in a timely manner again that I am more than a bit worked up!:D

Hope you have a lovely day too, you gave me a smile.:rose:

Yup, sounds like an addiction, but not a bad one. The more smiles, the better. :) :) :) :) :) :) [and smilies, too]

Take care...

I was right there with you until you said "turn off the virtual memory".

Virtual Memory (aka the Swap File) is a special file on your hardrive that windows maintains to store images your RAM temporarily when one the program with priority needs more RAM. Whenthe lower priority program gets it's turn on the processor, Windows copies the current state of RAM onto the disk and restores the image it made earlier with the information the second program needs.

Shutting the virtual memory off completely is going to slow your system down even more because you'll be limited to the amount of real RAM on your system.

Having Virtual memory turned on isn't any harder on your drive than any other disk intensive process, and it does increase the capability of your computer significantly.

You have a PM waiting.

clarification...

... the idea is to get enough ram so you do not need VM. I suggest (in the previous post) to buy ram ^then^ turn off VM.... and VM does tend to grind your drive, especially if you don't have a lot or ram.

VM itself needs to be defraged every once in a while.
VM is much slower than ram.

Do not turn off VM without getting more memory first.

JB...LOL, OK!:D

I've been offline for a little over an hour, just connected and my pages loaded just fine...I am so tickled!:) :)

Orwell.....;) Thanks again.....:) :rose: :) Do have a lovely evening in Cali....

Weird Harold....thank you so much! I do hope you see the thread I started for you....you are so very kind.

phatcat...I do believe I am following you now. I decided to wait until tonight to defrag and I will check into the memory, too. I really appreciate all of your advice. :)

Try this ...

Ok. First calm down then do the following:

1. write down these steps before starting!

2. close your browser and your internet connection.

3. click right on your virus protection icon -- in the lower right hand corner if you have it.

4. click right on *ALL* icons in the lower right corner, one at a time, and close or stop them if this is an option. Try to get down to only the speaker and the time. Close enough should do!

5. now go to your "my computer" in the upper left corner of the screen and click it open (click left)

6. click until you see the c: drive shown. Do *NOT* click on it yet! Click *RIGHT* on it -- you should see a list of "tools". Select scandisk and open it.

7. There should be an option there for automatically fix error. Select it. Also select "delete" for cross-linked files. Then start it and go watch a movie or play with your bob (if you are nice you will be thinking nice thoughts of *ME* while you do this! :D) After scandisk finishes, if it says it found any errors and fixed them, *RUN IT AGAIN*, go get bob and have fun.

8. After it finishes and does not report fixing any errors, close scandisk and open defrag.

9. Select the defrag option to make your programs run faster, and then run it for disk c:.

10. Go get that vibrator again and have a *GREAT* time! Then go to sleep. For a good sized disk in trouble this will take overnight unless you do it once per month.

11. Next morning when it is done, reboot and enjoy!

12. Send me a thank you and do this once a month.

I hope this solves your problem! It should, at a minimum, relive lots of sexual frustration since I included a prescription for at *LEAST* a dozen orgasms in there!

Best of luck and stay calm.

My goodness! What a sweetie you are...wow!

OK, I have done everything you listed, (and BOB, too) and all that remains is defragging tonight, and you know, I sincerely thank you for giving me another excuse to use BOB, like I need one... I can just see me, defragging and Bob~ing at the same time.:)

(Actually, BOB never leaves my side, and I tend to stay a bit sore.)

Do I have to wait a whole month in between Bob~ing, defragging and other "ings"?:D

Thank you so much, this is very kind of you. :rose:

Hey intrigued did you get the bug fixed? Hope so and will see you online again!

Yes, I do believe I did...I did everything that has been suggested to me, and will defrag when I go to bed, so I think that will wrap up this very stessful event for me. :) I am a happy girl.;)

Thanks very much for your help....:rose:

intrigued

i am certainly happy to see that you have the problem fixed so you can spend time here with us at lit , hope your evening is going well!!!:rose:

Now that you're past the stress, are you ready to send me a picture? Hm?

When i did defragment my computer i deleted defrag for win98se and instaled defrag for Windows ME. It works a hell of a lot faster!

Does your computer have a maintenence schedule?

My puter defrags once a week...along with about a dozen other things that I have set it up to do. Check in your system tools to see if this is available to you. That way you don't have to worry about doing anything. Set it to run at night while you are sleeping.

I'm glad that things are working better for you! :)
