Haven't taken it out in a while. This is the first song I learned, over thirty years ago--damn, it was practically new then.

Blowin' in the Wind | Bob Dylan

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Poor ol' dad was afraid I was turning into a G.D. hippy. Yep.

Hafta go look up "The Times They Are a-Changin'"

you know? last night I watched a Happy Days rerun and in it Fonzi got very upset because 'Blowin' in the Wind' had replaced 'Rock Around the Clock' on the jukebox at Arnold's.

Coincidence, or something more, hmm?

Maybe. Maybe not. Don't forget, we (people my age) run things now. I have a friend who works at Viacom, at 44, she's considered the "Grande Dame" of her department.

How's the weather today up at 14C?

My first...

WILD THING Chip Taylor

Wild thing, you make my heart sing
You make, uh, everything groovy.
Yeah! Wild thing!

Wild thing, I think you move me.
But I wanna know for sure.
Come an' a sock it to me one time.

You move me, look out!

Wild thing, you make my heart sing
You make, uh, everything groovy.
Is that right? Wild thing, yeah!

Congrats. Maybe some of the snow will melt.

Sure (I guess). No promises, though. My range is pretty limited. I'm trying to find a tab for "Yellow" right now in a key that I can actually play. lol.

Ears perking...I hear a guitar playing somewhere!

I have such a soft spot for guitar players!!

What kind of guitar,kotori?

Nothing special, an old Hohner acoustic. I've been practicing "A Simple Twist of Fate."

Sssssshhhhhhhhh....

The first song I learned on the guitar was "Feeling Groovy." Don't tell Bluesboy. I'll NEVER live it down!

:)

"baby, don't go down to New Orleans....
please, baby....
they got a lot of funny people down there....
gonna kill you in a crack0house

baby, please don't go down there

'Early one morning the sun was shinin

Some are mathmeticians

i dont know how it all got started
i dunno what their doin with their lives...

tangled up in blue..."

so many more great versus in that song...

thanks for making me think of it

PLAY ON...

;)

First song I learned was "Margaritaville". I had no say in that, as my instructor picked it. Next was "Man in the Moon" (REM), which was a decidedly better choice.

Thanks to my teacher, I also know "Keep Your Hands To Yourself" and "Achy Breaky Heart". I can't be held responsible for those...though the Georgia Satellites song is kinda nifty in a bad way.

A really tough one I taught myself a long while back, but have just gotten around to really playing well:

Death Cab For Cutie
Title Track

Left uninspired by the crust of railroad earth that touched the lead to the pages of your manuscript.
I took my thumb off the concrete and saved up all my strength to hammer pillars for a picket fence.
It wasn't quiet what it seemed: a lack of pleasantries (my able body isn't what it used to be).
I must admit I was charmed by your advances: your advantage left me helplessly into you.
Talking how the group had begun to splinter and i could taste your lipstick on the filter.
I tried my best to keep my distance from your dress but call-response overturns conviction every time.
My memory cannot recall: a wave of alcohol we shared a cigarette and shaved the hours off.
Lushing with the hallway concregation, my best judgement signed its resignation.
I rushed this. We moved too fast, and tripped into the guestroom.
