Play piercing

For those who don't like pain, I've found a neat little trick to make injections painless. Place the tip of the needle against the skin. If you can feel it, move it a tiny bit and try again. Eventually you'll find an area where you can barely feel it, if at all. Then plunge the needle in. This technique positions the needle between nerve endings, and I often feel nothing at all.

Once the needle breaks the skin, I never feel it. The nerve endings are only in the upper layers of the skin, so piercing deeper through the muscle is completely painless.

inaacurate, as it does not apply to glandular tissues.

i would just like to mention, as a professional piercer, most of this information (underlined) is INCORRECT.

do as much research as possible before you embark on this - preferably go and speak to a professional, qualified piercer.

QFT. (I'm not a professional, but I'm studying and working on my portfolio to get an apprenticeship for tattooing/piercing here soon ^_^).

I can't stress enough not to use safety pins or other general use 'sticking things'. First... "you don't know where they've been, or who they've pricked before"- 'tis about as safe as reusing an opened condom you found on the street... washing it off with alcohol or burning it is akin to rinsing said condom out with water... yeah, it looks shiny and clean, but there's still stuff in it. Secondly, they're made of nickel, which tends to cause problems for people who are allergic to metal or have sensitive skin. (For the record, my skin can completely eat through cheap nickel earrings in about a week, a month for nickel earrings plated in another metal, and so-called hypoallergenic earrings make my piercings bleed occasionally... the only metals I can safely wear for any length of time is 18k+ gold, white gold, surgical stainless steel, and titanium)

Also, never use a piercing gun, even for the ears. They don't use sharp needles, but rather blunt metal rods. They cause considerable trauma, and will likely scar the delicate nipple tissue.

Also QFT. Keloids suck- even teeny tiny ones need considerable attention to get rid of.

Sterilise needles with ultrasound(?) if you can get it.

o_O Ultrasound is used to view babies in the womb and cancers in the body... Autoclaving is used to sterilize needles and other non-porous things exposed to biohazardous materials, and unless you have the big bucks at your disposal, probably not a viable option for a one-time-thing.

I'd suggest using pre-packaged sterile hypodermic needles, or check out BMEzine- they have lots of nifty stuffs...

Question about breathing: is it better to be inhaling or exhaling when the needle goes through?

Inhale slowly until the needle is ready to break the skin... exhale as it goes through... inhale slowly again when it's done. Focus on your breathing, and it won't be that bad.

Just curious, do you prefer 316LVM or are you okay with 316L? I recently bought a set of six 18g labret studs to wear in my earlobes (had to stretch one hole) and they are 316L. I normally prefer 316LVM but I just couldn't find 18g labret studs in LVM that didn't cost a billion dollars. I don't have any major allergies, I just prefer the vacuum melted stuff.

*steeples fingers like Mr. Burns*
I have already directed the madam to BMEshop...they DO ship to Japan...MWAHAHAHA.

I currently wear 316LVM... I haven't wanted to risk lesser grades for my "never change the jewelry" piercings. Occasionally, I'll wear the cheaper "get a hundred for just a $1!!!/$5 Wal-Mart brand body jewelry!" barbells in my tongue (and honestly, I haven't the faintest clue what they're made of, but my piercing swells after a few days of wearing it... I've not eaten through any of them yet, but I don't wear them long enough to).

i have several peircings and for most i was scared because they were in such sensitive areas.
my next is gettin my hood peirced and i'm actually really really nervous about that one - but its not gonna stop me.
i dont mind needles as long as i can see them penetrate the skin - hood i probably wont get to see much, much less want to lol

go to a professional - dont do it yourself, thats just asking for an infection no matter where it is.

probably already covered but my 2cents...I've had my nipples done twice at a professional piercing establishment. I removed the first piercings when I became pregnant with my oldest - they were a few years old but still became intensly irritating around 3 months pregnant. I remember rolling over in bed one night and the sensation waking me up and I was annoyed enough to run into the bathroom and take the rings out.

Several years later, when I was done useing the breasts for feeding children, I had them done again.

both times it hurt like HELL. But it was the kind of hurt that I enjoy. My husband teased me both times about how I must have thrown the piercer down to the floor and ravished him. I didn't, but it was such an intense rush of sharp concentrated pain that it was very memorable.

Pulling, tugging, dragging on the rings is very nice, even after years.

I kind of think you're missing the point. The point is for the PYL to do it to the pyl. I admit I'm interested in a plaything with (permanently) pierced nipples (I'll also admit that the present prospective plaything is highly resistant to the idea). I'm not desperately into causing her pain, at least not for its own sake. But if she gets her nipples pierced they will be pierced by me, and by no-one else - and while I will do my best to get her straight and symmetrical, it's more important (to me) that it's my handiwork than that it's perfect.

And yes, warrior queen, if I do it I will make very sure I know what I am doing.

On my end, being the pyl, the reasoning is that, if it is going to hurt, I might as well suffer for someone I care for, such my PYL.

"Focus on breathing" ... I remember it from childbirth classes. However, I sucked at it. Twice! LOL.

Will try to remember it, although it is kind of hard when all your body is screaming to be somewhere else ...

It will not be a permanent piercing. At this point, probably not even a temporary one. If, at all, it will be just some needle play through the nipples.

Although ... if I have to suffer, I'd like to have something to show for it, such as nice barbels or nipple rings ... but not happening any time soon, I'm afraid.

I wasn't advising against piercing

I was neither advising against nor advocating piercing.

Simply saying piercing, even earlobe piercing, isn't play.

Well, if you're going to hack away at yourself with tools not designed for that exact purpose, then it's no wonder you've had bad experiences and are advising against it.

Yikes.

I've seen dozens and dozens of pics and vids of temp play piercing done at local events. Unfortunately, I've never seen it done live, nor undertaken it myself, but watching those experienced players, and reading their accounts, shows me that it can definitely be done safely, and for the ultimate high by all concerned.

Consider this: the phrase "play piercing" refers to non-permanent piercings. It's not necessarily saying that this type of piercing is just fun and games with no consequences. It is just a way of referring to non-permanent piercings, often done with very high-gauge needles, for a variety of reasons.

Ugh. I hadn't realised that this needed to be pointed out.

Now I get where he's at.

:)

All good, except the "fun and games" comment made me think of deliriously happy clowns jabbing people with novelty oversized needles. But then, I'm weird.

I'll have to admit though, this thread, and a recent chat, have got me thinking about permanent piercings in my nipples again.

Well, thinking again, not piercing again.

I have a triangle piercing, and while I was hella nervous getting that done, it really wasn't too bad. A very brief, solid flash of pain, and done.

Yet, I'm kinda terrified of getting my nipples done. I think it's the whole 'but that was just a tiny piece of skin getting pierced before, this is a decent wad of tissue' thing.

*muses some more*

Actually, a triangle piercing is a much bigger deal than a nipple piercing! A triangle isn't just a piece of skin (like a hood piercing is), it actually has the potential to damage the internal shaft of the clitoris and cause nerve damage. So if you have a triangle piercing, you have NO reason to fear a nipple piercing...you've already had significant pieces of tissue pierced!

I understand that on certain levels, but my brain doesn't function normally sometimes.

But thank you. Now I have some common sense to tell myself when I try and talk myself out of it.
