This is a huge thing for me. Something that turns me on extremely, and I want to learn more about.

First off, I only have a couple of piercings, ears, tongue, and my nipples *were* pierced. They had to be taken out about a year after they were done because of some problems. But, I'd love to get them done again, and can't wait to. When I had them done the first time, it did hurt, but the sensations and rushes seconds afterwards had me so so so turned on.. and I would've done it again in a heartbeat. Unforunately I didn't have anyone at the time to release that sexual tension on. In the future I hopefully will. ;)

This is not really what I'm talking about when I say play piercing, this is just how extreme it can get for me.

Play piercing as I've seen it, is usually done with accupuncture<sp> needles of different sizes. The colors at the ends of the different sized needles are sometimes used to make colorful designs or pictures on a persons body. I've always seen it done on a persons back, arms, legs, or ass. They tend to be 'safer' areas.

I've watched it done several times, though I've unforunately not had the experience yet of having it done to me. It's something I REALLY want to do.

The needles are 'weaved' in and out of the skin, usually fairly shallow, sometimes deeper. Fingers and pressure in different areas of the skin is used to do this correctly.

There's also a technique that's sometimes used that was referred to as 'raising' where you weave the needles one over the top of the other. The metal crossed over causing the skin to raise a bit more, thus causing the pain sensation to be more.

Another thing done was that they would tap the needles, snap them with their fingers, and then use a spray bottle to spray rubbing alcohol on them. Not only is this good for the sterile field, but it also again raises the pain level a bit with the burn.

I'd love to hear peoples thoughts, advice, threads, etc.

Please keep in mind as with other play of this sort, to always be careful. Wear gloves since it does involve small amounts of blood. Keep a clean sterile field. And by all means, learn and know what you're doing before doing it.

thanks for the shout-out to safety, it's always an important thing especially when dealing with blood.

on to my point.

have any of you ever seen the video for bjork's "pagan poetry"? it depicts the kind of piercing you are describing, in which she was having pearls sewn onto her skin. the end shows her back with piercings along each side of her spine with hoops inserted. a pearl necklace laces through them, making her back look like a corset. it is SOOOOOO pretty, and i've often longed to have something similar done to me. but i'm a little worried about the long term effects. i had my ears pierced when i was very young, and though i long ago stopped wearing earings in my left ear (no real reason, it just looks prettier with one ear all decorated tip to tip and the other one plain) there are still little hard nobbies on my left earlobe.

i'm hoping to hear from people with experience who can tell us if there's any scarring involved.

In answer to your question about scarring bunny...

When doing the kind of play piercing I was speaking of with accupuncture needles, if done right, most times there's no kind of scarring.

The needles are taken out as soon as the sessions done, and there are usually red dots for 2 - 3 days afterrwards. They fade, and there's no marks left. My ex is one of the people I saw this done on, and it never left a mark on him... he btw scarred very easily, he had a tanner complexion.

I've known/met several people who've had the corset thing done as you said above. This is of course another thing I want done. Again... from information taken from them. If done right, the back doesn't scar easily and heals fairly fast. If it isn't done to deeply, and it's properly taken care of the piercings should heal up within a few days without scars.

Hope this lil bit of information helps out. :)

Oh.. one more thing to mention as far as play piercing goes. I also know some people who've done it in the breast flesh. Again, I'm going to say these people knew what they were doing... but I wanted to mention that this is an area that scars very easily.

Himself teases me about this... it is something that excites me to no end... we will do it someday...

Some basic and good information on play piercing. PLEASE keep in mind that reading this isn't going to make you an expert or full knowledged person at doing this, that you should watch someone else several times, and learn from them if at all possible.

Some pictures of play, though I don't see much of the weaving technique I was talking about here. More of straight through piecing.
***A warning, some of the 9 pages that this will link to show blood during or after the piercing, if you're uncomfortable at all about this, I'd suggest you don't go browsing around the pages. I tried to past a direct page that didn't show any.***

A thought of my own to add. In the links above they talk a *lot* about the blood involved. However, the majority of the time, as long as you're piercing in the right areas, and not dragging the needles out at an angle, there's usually very little of it. I think that the above writers were very good to mention it so much because of how 'advanced' this play really is, so all know to take the proper precautions.

Some people are more into the blood play of this, personally, I'm not. I like the sensation of being pierced, but would always like it done in an area and ways that didn't involve much blood at all.

Hey, I've tried to pierce myself with acupuncture needles and found them way too flexy to push through the skin fully, they go in but not back up out.

I use vet hypodermics, 25 ga is very tiny and a good starter needle. The deeper the pierce and the bigger the needle, the harder it is to take.

I've not seen the Bjork video, it sounds way cool. I've had a piercing done on my back that was similar and probably a better beginner scene: 8 25 ga. needles, four on either side of my back running vertically. They can be threaded up with dental floss and tugged lightly, the pull is really disconcerting but really nice. The needles can be laced like a corset or any which way.

To support beads or pearls or such I'd be confident recommending using 23 ga. needles, piercing deep enough so that it's not too little skin involved (not paper-thin in other words) and you should be fine.

It's not possible to say it could no way never ever scar, but with piercing alone I've seen little scarring. The only substantial piercing scars I've seen have been from really large needles and really heavy tension play (a lot of pulling of ribbons and strings and an 18-16 ga. needle) It's likely that a pretty, mellow lacing will not scar you. Also the other scars I've seen have been on the area under the bicep, which is just about the most tender spot I can think of.

(those of you will tattooed arm bands will agree)

You're welcome Bunny. :)

Thanks Netzach, I appreciate all and any information being added.
As far as needles and size goes, the links above provide a lot of information on sizes that are good for different things. I believe one of the links provides a place to buy them also. BME. :)

I was brought up in a medical household (My mom was a nurse) where I had access to all kinds of medical toys. (She sometimes brought some home) This led to a sort of fetish, I guess for surgical stainless, and so forth. One of my favourite things to play with is a suture set (Sterile).
I went to a party once with my arm embroidered. (I sew, suture self) It was an Sm type environment, and I got a lot of good feedback from it. Like a lot of masochist, I got to it from self mutilation, which in turn, came from boredom. I had a lot of time on my hands.
As for "Play piercing," I've not experimented much with that with other people (Blood aversion). With myself, it's less of an issue, but I have an almost pathological Zoophobia, so it limits the invasive things I can do with them, and be comfortable. Though I know how to minimize it, (Auto clave, antiseptics, etc) it's not exactly rational, so I usually stick to things that don't break the skin, or involve "Icky" bodilly fluids.
