Readimg through the New Stories, looking for my new post, I noticed a title 'Brother in Law'- Peeping Tom, by Sunnyboyz. The title was so close to one I had published, on 8/9/02.
What do you know? It is my story, with the character names changed!!
What can you do for me? I'm not happy!

E-mail or PM Laurel with details of when and where your story was first published.

Mag,
People submitting work here agree to a number of terms. One of them is that work submitted is the submittor's intellectual property.
It seems this rule was violated here, which is a very sad thing. I really cannot see the kick in simply copying someone else's story.

I suggest physical punishment and excommunication.

I was wondering myself if it is not better to post your stories first before editing so as to have a record that it is in fact your work, there is nothing to stop an editor from grabing your stuff. Just a thought.

I don't think you need to worry about an editor grabbing your story and posting it here -- where you are likely to see it and raise stink.

Editors usually have enough talent to write their own stories and don't need to copy wholesale from their clients. Copying a complete story, as was the case for Mag58's story, is the tactic of the untalented.
