Pink Orchid 2025: Story Event for Women-Centric Erotica - Official Support Thread

Struggling. Lost my momentum during the holidays, and I have not been able to recover it. Work got 300% more demanding, further limiting my ability to resume progress.

Man, I know the feeling. I lost my momentum for awhile. Unfortunately, it's because I have a LOT more on my plate at home in having to care for my wife, but I think I finally found that balance.

You've never seen the classic comedy with Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dabney Coleman?

No, no I haven’t. I’ve also never attended English Literature 101.

Any idea can be written so that it works or doesn’t work in this context, it depends on how the subject matter is handled. So have a go and we’ll see how it turns out 😁

I started mine yesterday. Knocked out almost 2k words on it. Trying to make myself work instead of grabbing my laptop now.
It’s turning into an interesting challenge. The story is set in an existing IP, and I’m writing two versions of it: one for publication here and one for a quarterly magazine put out by the IP licensee.

Huh. Upping the challenge of remembering what details ends up in and out of the story while editing? You’re a brave one.

The hard part is going to be that I'm using sex for character development, which I won't be able to do in the "official" story.

I'm still reworking my sci-fi masterpiece for publication here in the Event. Masterpiece might be a bit of an overstatement. Like by a thousand light years.

Okay! I submitted my story this morning for a 2/1/25 publication. If you have a chance or are inclined to enjoy a Sapphic story check out My Rebirth once published.

Good luck to everyone!

Argh. So many pieces of story, but still incoherent as a whole. Posting the start and end as separate stories already didn't help, either.

I think I need to edit out more big chunks, to end up with a story. And Emily and Richie keep having conversations which may be realistic but don't progress the story at all, so I need them to shut up!

Time for one of those story plans, like they taught us in school.

Today starts the official 1st day of stories posting to the Pink Orchid challenge.

Is there an official list that I am missing? My The King's Bride isn't on that one.
I didn't have access to any official list. I think the Admins post that at the end of the challenge. I just searched for "Pink Orchid" and "Pink Orchid 2025" within the last 30 days.

Did you use those tags or publish yours earlier? Or was it just in the "Note to Admins"?

EDIT: I posted that list, because I noticed other threads for things like the Valentine's Day challenge have people posting links to their own stories as they're published. Since I saw the others tagged for the Pink Orchid, I just thought I'd save them time and self-promote all of them together.

EDIT2: I just looked at the story and see in your note at the beginning it's for Pink Orchid, but not with any tag. So, to all reading this be sure to read:

If anyone else posts stories for the challenge, let us know as the month progresses. That way we won't have to read them all at the same time next month!

Thanks. I hope the event does well, and the stories find a receptive audience.

Several months ago, I was complaining on the forums how fantasy stories don't get the same views and votes as they used to, and it was pointed out that stories based on Dungeons & Dragons seemed to do better.

So I started writing a shallow, light-hearted dungeon crawling romp. But 9k words later my tiefling character has a fully developed character, with traumas, prejudices and desires. A good fit for Pink Orchid, I think.

I've just submitted it.

So, after I woke up, I read my story through and decided I wasn't going to futz with it anymore. I've put it up for the event. So, barring it being rejected for some reason, I'll be in when they give it the green light.

I realised that my planned story is going to take too long to complete (still in the first half of it...) so I've started another, shorter effort for this year. Hoping to have it finished sooner rather than later.
