Pink Orchid 2025: Story Event for Women-Centric Erotica - Official Support Thread

About to submit a very short Valentine's story, then get back to my PO one, which is the sequel to last year's but takes place before last year's Summer Lovin' story. Basically all the sex from the early stages of a relationship.

I'm not making much progress with anything just now, unfortunately.

This year this is like pulling teeth for me too, so I empathize (double checking, I tend to write that as “emphasize”… hmph)

Sending writerly energy your way: 💥💦

But, hey, how many others writing for the Pink Orchid would dare give you one in the Loving Wives category?

We have had some! There was this one gang bang story I remember, but I don’t remember which year it was.

I've got a story that i've sort of just finished with two strong female characters in it. Yes its smoking fetish. But they do have rather good fun together.
I am just not sure if its pink enough.

Hmmm

I’m sure it is, but I’ll take a look and get back to you.

The one with four conflicting versions? At least you don’t have the problem of writing too little like me and StillStunned 😁

I hope you can pull it together in time.

Thanks. Pulling teeth sounds about right. Those wisdom teeth that have their roots all twisted and wrapped around your jawbone.

Mine got away from me. I'm worried I'm not going to be able to get it finished and edited in time for the event, but I'm pretty happy with how it's shaping up, so I'm going to be patient with it.

The Valentine's story is done (short and sort of sweet?), and for PO, about half of the filthy 'friends with benefits' stage of Em and Richie getting together. It works in my head now, just need to get it down without going into every single wee detail of the offending few months...

(The Valentine's one is Richie attempting to write a love letter a year later. Alcohol helps.)

The submission window opens at the beginning of February, but maybe premature posting won’t be an issue. I checked and Laurel has fixed the dates in the event announcements.
In the Notes to Admin, I asked that it be posted no sooner than February 1.

I try to avoid submitting stories early. I suspect that there will be a lot of stories released at the same time resulting in them falling quickly off the ‘front page.’

My story has been approved, and my request was granted. The publication date shows as February 1.

As to whether there's a downside to submitting early, my stories usually don't get much attention regardless of when they're published, so I, personally, won't lose any sleep over this. Being included in the full Pink Orchid list at the end of the event might bring in some readers. YMMV.

I learned something about the 'Notes to Admin' box that I hadn't known before: It has a character limit. It happens that, in addition to including the Pink Orchid label and the publication date request, I also pre-emptively explained one passage in the story to avert it being flagged as a violation of site rules. In the course of explaining that, I found that the last several characters were cut off. I had to rewrite the explanation to fit it into the space. In the end, either my explanation made the difference, or it wasn't necessary, because the story was approved. As for what the character limit is, I didn't count. Maybe two or three hundred? You can see by this post that I'm verbose, so this may not be an issue for anyone else.

Still editing mine. I will have it done and ready then onto the next challenge. I think I will have one for that as well. But I owe my other stories so much time. I feel bad for leaving folks hanging on other stories when I pay attention to these challenges.

I've got a story I've been working on for awhile that, with some tweaks, will hopefully meet the challenge. More of a personal growth than sex-filled romp story, though there is plenty of sex in it!

How’s everybody doing? I’m at about 6500 words. Me being a pantser it’s difficult to say if this is halfway or something else, but anyway I have more than one scene now 😁
Struggling. Lost my momentum during the holidays, and I have not been able to recover it. Work got 300% more demanding, further limiting my ability to resume progress.

I just halted all fine-tuning edits on mine, "Going Down Together" in Loving Wives, and clicked "publish" with a Note to Admins to publish it o/a Feb 1st.

Thoughts on a Lit-ified Nine To Five-ish type tale of the girls at the office getting their revenge on the office lech?

Doesn’t sound very sex positive? The point is not to trample on men but to have good times all over. Then again, the sex positive version of the above sounds a lot like run of a mill male fantasy. But I don’t know what Nine To Five references so I might be too skeptical.

I can relate. Mine is coming along agonizingly sloooowly.

You've never seen the classic comedy with Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dabney Coleman?

Probably wasn’t a big hit in Finland.
Even if it was, Omen might not have been born. I've heard of the film but never seen it and know nothing about it. Is it any good? It's streaming on Disney, apparently.

If you've ever worked in a big company, especially in the 70-80s, you'll find a lot about it to be relatable.

Lets just say it has a few sort of Lit-type scenes including putting a collar and chain on Coleman

Someone worked in more interesting companies than I did. Maybe it was just 1990 onwards, but apart from guys photocopying their arses, the office was very chaste. Weekend parties, otoh...
