Obviously I'm not above an insult of ones intelligence, character, taste, or general existence. But physical insults are not part of my repertoire.

For starters they have no bearing on this board. The primary feature of this board is that we are not sharing physical space and therefore have little or no sense of physicality.

Secondly, its the insult of the mental incompetent, ineffectual, wannabe. Its out of desperation or a lack of mental capacity that such people result to physical insults.

Perhaps the first time I was physically insulted was when I was sporting a cock avatar and int eh midst of an argument with Freya2 she called me small, etc, etc. The words sat there like ice on a parking lot. Sticking out and totally ineffective. Now, I had provoked her and was deserving of insults but his one simply didnt work.

More recently is the work of S. Daedulus and Shadwann. No cllue who these people are other than that they are fond of others and not of me. Due to my current avatar, a recent mature picture, they decided to make my physical age a target. First with acorny comment on my hairline, then on speculation about my hips. Again, not terribly effective. With the main consequence that they look like poorly educated natives of Arkansas.

So why do people use physical insults here?

Are they ever effective?

They can be effective if used against approval-seeking people with large and obvious insecurities.

Or guys with bitch tits.

***trying to think if I've ever used one***

I personally don't think they are effective, which is why I don't think I've used them. Now, I am guilty of, on occasion, name-calling, or telling stupid people that they are stupid, or just general bitchiness, but I don't think I use physical insults. Why? I don't pay any mind if soeone aims one at me, so why would I think anyone would care if I did it?

The way I see it though, nothing is really 'off-limits' here short of threats of actual violence. How effectively or ineffectively people argue tells you more about them than their actual words, really.

Exactly! And since I don't know you either, I figured I'd give it a shot and see how it went. Apparently you are not one of those people and in the future I will stick to insulting you in other ways.

BTW- You might want to proof read your post before submitting it. It makes you look less intelligent when you can't correctly spell a four letter word and putting spaces where they belong appears to be beyond you!

I've been threatened with physical violence by people on this board twice this week. Does that count?

i agree with that sometimes when you see people insulting others maybe even when i don't like the person they are insulting i have to roll my eyes at seeing the pointlessness of it

sure some insults can be witty and cutting and serve a purpose but i do think most of the insults said on here are just because people haven't found something else more interesting to post about :)

edited to say this could almost be my fav MM avatar just because of the effect its had not just on others but perhaps on himself too :p

Further stuff:

Frustration could lead to physical insults, in people who normally wouldnt use them. Int eh case I mentioned above with Freya; i was pretty blunt and our exchanges were a tad nasty. The thing is that she didnt geet involved in it, I dragged her in and the last thign she wanted to do that night was bother with one of my threads.

So she got frustrated perhaps far more easily than normal and lashed out. That would explain some use of physical insults as Freys isnt one I consider to use them. She can hang tough just fine without stooping that low.

But in this one case she was not really carring about soem outcome but sick of dealign with me, which resulted in some form of toying, of halfhearted attempts as she was more dismissive than caustic.

Ok, question partially answered by me, I'm one cool motherfucker.

"one cool motherfucker"

I hear that happens when you get old. *snicker*

I didn't even bother to read the responses in this thread but it goes back to a conversation we had a short while ago here...people will do anything to tear another person up when they are feeling the need to make themselves feel better or some people just lack the moral character and respect for others. I am using this in a general form. I am by no means directing this to anyone in particular as I have not read much of the board in the past two days.

Are they effective...words often cut like a knife if they are wielded as such to cause pain they often do. More often than not people state things to make their point even stronger not even thinking about the tone or the impact it will have.

If you think that physical insults are so pointless then why are you making such a big deal out of it?

I'm wondering how one goes about casting physical insults in cyberspace.

Did Nintendo come up with another rumble back when I wasn't looking?

You pegged it pretty good here, as to why I used the insults I did that night. It was just an end result of weeks of frustration at treatments by people here, and I lashed out at an area I know can be sensitive to some men.

You are one cool motherfucker though. :)

Is it any different really than physical compliments? I'd love to sink my teeth into the ass in your av.

People have used "physical" insults many times over in reference to the "microchocopenis"...that is until said owner of small appendage turned the joke around on those who insulted him. He now bears the label with pride.

Given that its my ass in the AV, when should I expect you?

1) I don't know why people use physical insults. Perhaps it's cus they can't think of anything better to say. I would much rather insult someone's intelligence, and make them feel like the stupid fuck they are (I only really bother insulting the really stupid fucks), than say 'hey you.. you're ugly'. Looks can change. Stupidity can't. You can become educated, but education doesn't mean that you're not stupid. Stupidity is holding onto ignorance, it's holding on to stereotypes, to generalizations, etc. Stupidity is a choice.

2) People try to insult me for my physical appearance rather often. And I mean, why not give it a shot.. for all you know, I might be the kind that gets crushed when someone says I'm fat. (that last sentence was sarcasm). I don't get crushed when someone says I'm fat. Why? Cus I've heard it my whole life. And those people that are so unwilling to accept me for who I am, are losing out on the person that I am. When someone like Hanns throws an insult at me saying I'm <insert stupid Hanns insult here>, more often than not, I roll my eyes, and close the thread. Those kind of people are dimwitted, especially when all they do is try to ruffle my purty feathers. So are the comments effective? Nah.
