Peregrinator, Rest in Peace

Perg was top tier. A really good and kind man.

Always had some good talks with him, though unfortunately not irl. I have no doubt that it would have been amazing, just like the man himself.

^^ Your last post was in 2013?????

(At least under that ID.)

I didn't know Perg well but I know many listers spoke highly of him. I was in shock when he passed. Always out doing physical stuff. It just goes to show, you really never know.

Most of you probably have no clue who the hell I am. Those who did know me and recognize me now, mostly probably do not have great memories.

I was occasionally funny, thought myself far too clever, and got into a lot of conflict because of my depression and anger.

Perg was always polite and dignified toward me. Even when I was raging at all of you like the kid I was. I think maybe he understood a little of my feelings.

I grew up here, I've said that before. Many of you helped raise me.

Perg was one, though I never realized it at the time.

Few things in life are guaranteed, but one is 100% that I will NEVER meet anyone from this or any other website.

That's just creepy as hell.

I think it's safe to say that no one in this thread, at least, would want to meet you. You know who would have, though? Perg. Show some respect.

Exactly!

Hearing of Perg's death on facebook absolutely stunned me. Curiosity brought me back here and it's gorgeous to see all the love for this sweet, sharp and compassionate man.

I was somewhat surprised that he had stopped posting here, but then his facebook was kinda like the best of the GB anyway.

I'm hugely unsurprised to see there are still arseholes everywhere, but for those who knew and loved him: here's to Perg.

P.S. If I was ever horrible to anyone when I was here, I'm sorry. I sometimes wonder if the GB and Lit generally, pulls in those of us who are a bit lost, or not great at RL interpersonal communication and makes arseholes of us all, so if I was ever a dick to you, I apologise.

Also apologise that I still haven't learned to embed media into posts.

Certainly an apt generalization about/for some/many here, particularly in the years since social media appeared.

In the years before social media became commonplace, the GB was primarily people of above-average intelligence who enjoyed anonymous open communication with people they'd otherwise never come into contact with.

There were some in-person meetings, groups and couples, but mostly the GB was a place unto itself.

A very busy place, where lesser threads would fade off the first page in 20 minutes and busy threads would last a few days, tops. A hive of anonymous expression.

As time went on, less intelligent people arrived from The Playground and around the Web... the quality of discussion was reduced, anonymity was replaced by people's faces and life details ...and people were increasingly mean to each other for the sake of being mean....people going out of their way to prevent people from posting on an anonymous free speech forum must be the lowest form of activity anyone on the internet could ever engage in. Argue? yes! Censor? Never!

This was something that was identified early on in a Lavender thread; the playgroundization of the general board.

She was right and the GB is now a stagnant shadow of its former self, with a handful of bullies posing as righteous... espousing (their) Truth as fake authority while telling people what they should say, think, type...even the site's founder has stopped posting here, which pretty much says it all.

That said, it's always good to see the articulate people and the attractive women in particular stop by to say hi.

You don't have anything to apologize for!

I think that sums it up.

They aren't going to stay around and quite frankly I don't blame them.

Okay...this is not the thread for it, but you're sweeping generalization and obvious blame of another part of this website, is uncalled for. You DO know most people post on both places, right?

I'll stop here out of respect for Perg. But then fighting words. People left the general board because there were too many self righteous, angry bullies running aroumd, being as vicious as they could for no reason

As far as people leaving is concerned, it was the endless, constant drama that did that. The place became too tangled up, lines crossing, real lives were being affected. Too many people were fucking too many people's spouses.
So this place would reach a certain threshold and then split. Happened more than once, until social media came big, they used to go off and make new clones of Lit. None of which lasted long, because they fucked each other into obliteration there too. You want to know what brought people back??

There is nowhere else on the internet like this place. There never was, and when it's gone, that will be it. People like you and I won't get to have intelligent debates while looking at tities and ass.

Wow. Just learned of his passing and am shocked and saddened. He was a genuine person, someone I was happy to know from Lit. Thinking about him and his family... :(

RIP Perg
One of the first to welcome me to the GB
One of the good ones

I've met several posters in person
and many friendships are still intact
A regret, I never got to meet Perg
He shall be missed :rose:

Intelligence
Ability to articulate thought without being condescending. Rational grasp on emotion without overbearing or dismissive of those of another.
I'll add sincerity. Conversations for the sake of connection, and not as a means to an end.

I have had tons of conversations with perg via pm. For some reason he really was intrigued with me when I first joined. Well, can't say that I blame him, I am pretty awesome. I even helped him out one time when his heat wasn't working.

After sussing out my thoughts and emotions about Perg's passing over the last few days, I'd simply like to say that I wish I had taken the time to get to know him a better.
The shock of one of my peers passing before his time now subsided, I'm left with the regret that I did not soak up more of his light while it was burning.
Rest easy, Perg. Perhaps we'll meet again some sunny day.
