Matt Vespa | September 16, 2023 2:25 PM

Paxton was acquitted of the charges in a 14-16 vote today. Supporters for his removal need 21votes for a conviction (via WaPo):

Butters and the rest of the left will be sad.
I was tuned in on an hour special discussion on all the things wrong with the charges starting with no evidence, mostly supposition. Suspicions on a Bush family railroad job.

His supporters never denied that he took the payments nor that he gave value for them.

Paxton's defense was that the accusations were by 'whistle-blowers and RINOs'. So that's OK then.

His fellow MAGAts (all but two) just said 'Meh' and refused the impeachment, just like when Trump was impeached.

I watched part of it and the closing arguments on Youtube. Tony Buzbee did a good job detailing the lack of evidence and the animosity of those trying to railroad him out of office.

"Those"????
"Those" is doing some heavy lifting here in your comment.
As Bray123 just indicated, as in the trump georgia indictment, this was an all republican thing.
You refuse to look yourself in the mirror.

Whenever I hear things like this, I always think of OJ Simpson.

Everyone knows he murdered his wife.
All the evidence pointed to the fact that he murdered his wife.
By all rights, he should have been sent to prison for the murder, and there have been many men in his position who, due to lack of resources for a dream legal team, would have been sent to the Electric Chair for that murder.

Yet Simpson was aqcuitted for the murder. Because he didnt' do it? No, because that trial proved that justice can be bought, and if you are rich and powerful enough you can buy your way to freedom.

Paxton is guilty and ought to have been convicted. The evidence is there. The justice is not. Not because he isn't guilty, but because he is wealthy and powerful enough to buy his way out of it. If you believe in equality, fairness and justice you would not be pleased about this verdict.

Yes! This EXATLY!
This impeachment speaks to just how corrupt and immune to accountability the Republican Party in Texas is as a whole and nationwide as well. It says nothing on Butters or the Left.
You seem to be upset. I suspect the rest of the left is as well.

This is your true reason for any interest in this and it's pretty pathetic.

but on the flip side, it's also hilarious that you have no absolute way of quantifying any upset emotions over this from "the left."

meanwhile, you'll still be losing your lunch and screaming at the sky every time an elected Democrat stops walking to tie their shoelaces. :ROFLMAO:

I was referring to the Texas House managers who brought the charges to the Senate. The 70% of House Republicans that voted to impeach Paxton did so without seeing or hearing any sworn testimony. That's is on them. They are a disgrace to the state of Texas. How many people would you convict without any sworn testimony or evidence? Watch the short video here:

I've seen the evidence. I don't agree with the verdict, which was political.
There was no real "evidence" none of the accusers was put under oath by the House investigators. Laws were broken by House members, the charges were presented and rushed through the House with no time to read them thoroughly or study the "evidence." You can view the remarks of the Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick who presided over the trial here. He outlines the illegalities. Start at 3:30 minutes:

The evidence was released to the public. I don't need someone to analyze it for me. đź‘Ť

You cite my post and yet still overlook its general meaning and intent. Let's see if I can generalize it even simpler:

You were referring to the REPUBLICAN Texas House OF Rep and the REPUBLICAN House managers who brought REPUBLICAN investigated evidence to the REPUBLICAN senate. The REPUBLICANS who voted in a REPUBLICAN majority to impeach REPUBLICAN Paxton. This is on REPUBLICANS. REPUBLICANS are a disgrace. (ME no longer generalizing: You refuse to look in the mirror)

Paxton and his supporters claimed the accusations were made by RINOs but they seem to forget they are the RINOs. Very, very few true Republicans exist in Texas or in our nation.
