Panopticon

I call it Interventionism. That is the economic term. Socialism is the moral underpinning that demands Market Intervention. You can call it anything you want, but it is not "Capitalism."

At best, it is cronyism and in practice is much closer to the Mafia or Chinese one-party rule.

It's not capital-C Capitalism, because that's an abstract term of rhetorical significance to you. I concede it. It is, however, currently-existing-capitalism.

Fuck me to tears. I just typed a five minute reply and as I submitted it, Princess shut off my connection!

You cannot concede the point and then say, but it is still so.

Fuck, I am pissed! What a waste of an answer!

What we have is not the results of Capitalism unchecked, for it has been checked at every turn by the Interventions of Socialist morality. What we have is not the logical conclusion of Capitalism, but the logical conclusion to Interventionism.

I am not even going to try and reprise the whole damned thing.

I hadn't heard the term "interventionism" and says to myself "this is probably an Austrian/Mises.org term of art"...and sure enough.;)

I understand that the plan is to wind the clock back to about 1840 (but then you have to deal with those pesky proto-Whigs...) and run it again avoiding the previous mistakes. It's easy, though, to show government-business operating in a tight spiral of mutual influence every step of the way.

At every juncture where you can claim "here's where it all went to shit"...I can demonstrate that your problems in keeping Capitalism free of Intervention go father back.

I do not have to wind the clock back.

We go forward to it.

We have no Capitalism, no Liberalism, no Liberty for once we embark upon the path of governmental positive interferences then we are forever doomed to intervene to deal with the unintended consequences of political decisions that pay no price for being wrong, because they cannot go out of business, but they can raise new taxes to try again...

Capitalism lets business fail, and we are happy to see the little guy go under, but as we can clearly see, once you become big enough to be a partner with government, then you cannot be allowed to fail and you have access to the regulatory decision makers and the raisers of taxes that can ensure no new startup competition.
