Tonight calls for a serious cleansing... A psychic vamp so draining that after 2 intense hours I am exhausted and deadened. So...

1) Sage myself in the shower tonight. (double whammy!)

2) I have to work on my shielding on a more regular basis.

What do others out there normally do when you meet a really intense black hole like that? I had 2 REALLY intense hours. Small room, physical contact, eye contact, and he admitted to actively trying to impose on me telepathically. He felt so broken, but so needy that my normal empathic reaction flipped a 180 and I was thoroughly repulsed and intimidated. How the heck does one cope with someone like that? :(

Usually drown them in energy.

I like to make them choke on it.

I couldn't. :( Everytime he reached out to me, I withdrew in fear. I'd throw out energy, I even ran it down his chakras (put him to sleep, but only until I stopped.) But this is a "black hole" that is the result of 26 years. The kind of energy I was comfortable offering was a spoonful to an empty lake basin...

I need to go take that shower now, I suppose. And I think tomorrow will be a beach day... I feel the need to immerse in the ocean.

I am all about protection, but choking them (even if only w/ energy) seems a bit extreme. The rede is "as long as you harm none, do what you will". I believe in protecting myself, but I try to find less harmful ways to do it, since, even if it's in my defense, the energy WILL come back to me, blessing or bane. When I have come in contact w/ psychic vamps, I do have a few tricks that seem to work for me, and doesn't harm them or me.

1) If I think their energy is ok to receive (and not all vamps are negative, many times just needy) will try to get them to my left side (then I am drawing their energy rather than they drawing mine) or ground it out by running it into the Earth by seeing yourself as a tree and the roots pull it down.

OH, and with the "eye contact" there is a trick to dealing w/ it. DON'T LOOK AT THE EYES! BUT look at the space BETWEEN the eyes. You won't seem rude, but they don't have your eyes as a connection.

2) I tend to do a lot w/ essential oils. killshandra saids she saged AFTER the incident, but what about carrying a small bottle of clary sage with you and using it DURING? Now, if the person is malicious and toxic, this may make them a bit queasy (had that happen once, but he learnt not to come around me ).

Another good oil to carry is Hyssop. It can be a bit expensive, but you do only need 1 or 2 drops and in the situation. Drop it along your arms and recite, "hyssop droplets on my arms, what hyssop touches let noone harm"

A 3rd option is to get vertivert soap (hard to find yes, but worth it; and if you make soap, you could have a new product). Bathe in the vertivert soap afterwards to cleanse the negativity from you. it is AWSOME!

3)what about making an amulet or talisman to carry with you? there's a rune that is specifically for that purpose. could paint it on something or carve it or sew it or get creative and carry it around in your pocket or a medicine bag.

4)Elderberry bush is a "witch friendly" bush. It was planted at the access points of a witches dwelling in old days to prevent harm coming to the house and occupants.

5)draw a banishing pentagram on your forehead in witch blue. You can act like you are scratching your head and draw it quickly. If its a REALLY toxic situation, draw it and then spin it for extra repelling.

Then, the goody-2-shoes me, will ask the God and Goddess to help them find what they need so desperately that they have to try to take it from another without permission. By doing this, I am trying to prevent them from feeling the need to do the same to another who may not be so capable of dealing w/ the attack.

Hope this helps you deal w/ this type of situation better.

Anyway, a smart ass answer not being helpful but attempting to be thought provoking.

If you believe in karma and you believe in connection, then a vampire in your space has some reason to be there, is really my deeper point.

Balance has many ways of finding itself. It's up to you to discover what that is.

Okay. I'm not trying to be scary. You don't have to let him drain and you don't have to throw out anything. This sort of thing is reflexive for me and usually finds its own level based on what's available.

I'm comfortable with black holes. If you're not that's okay. But if you have a black hole around, there's a reason and being comfortable with black holes isn't something that needs to be scary. Even black holes have a place in the universe. The Earth still stands and a black hole to you might be to another person a place where they desperately need to vent some extra energy.

So to a person who is an abnormally high producer of energy, that black hole is a blessing.

Try not to judge.

Since I'm in a massive rush this morning, I don't have much time to read through the previous posts. At the risk of repeating someone else, or being off-topic, I wanted to point out the merits of laughter as a banishing technique.

Or as Dion Fortune says, just not believing in it works in a pinch :)

Hmm, good replies, thank you all... I am rushing back out the door, or else I would post more. It'll have to wait until I get home.
