Over 18 and living at home.

Well, you should know LT. You sponged off your mama until you drove her to her grave. :)

Your attitude is a trait of parasites.

Ishmael
And it was your overactive sex drive that drove your son to his grave.

I left home at 18, bitch.

Keep barking, dog. Your ranting and raving already cost you Congress.

Yeah, right. Believe in leeching you do?

No. Everyone I know who is over 18 and lives at home works or goes to school. They're working towards independence, but, it's virtually impossible to pay your own way through school and pay for an appartment with whatever crappy job you can get without training. And not everyone is able to get scholarships and/or student loans; or wishes to.

For many people, in makes economic sense to live at their parents house until their able to move out on their own.

Assmeal is the same flaming retard who preaches that people should rely on their families and not the Government.

In today's economy it is almost impossible for an 18 year old to get a job that pays the rent. A job that pays over $8/hr automatically requires a college degree and to get a degree you need even more money.

The economics say that most 18 year olds are going to be staying home. Anecdotes can kiss my ass, most are staying home. Period.

In my day, I had a $20/hr job waiting for me at 18. Now? It's either live off your family at 18 or live off welfare.

There
are
far
too
few
jobs
that
support
18 year olds
leaving
home.

Period.

Shut the fuck up, Assmeal, shut the fuck up, you lost Congress with your bullshit, so why can't you just shut the fuck up!

awesome post.

AWESOME.

That's a lie. :) Both of my sons managed that. Yeah, they went into debt with student loans, but they managed that and their lives outside the house. But maybe that's because I raised them to be independent.

I raised them NOT to be pathetic hand wringers who made excuses for not trying.

I also raised them to totally reject any woman that was a pathetic hand wringer. They're not worthy of a second thought. (But some are ok to fuck for a one night stand. Kinda coyote style. Just make sure you're down the road before you have to chew your arm off.)

Helping hand? Cool. Dependence? Fuck off.

In fairness to Ish folks, you have to remember that in his day 18 was a good half of the life expectancy.

my kids will have a place in my home for as long as they need it.

note the word "need".

Well, you know, leeches have a place in modern medicine. They spread no known disease, and they do a better job at reducing local inflammation than any other known treatment. Maybe you should pick another metaphor.

I lived in my parents house till i was 21, i payed rent from the day i finished highschool, bought half the household groceries and did chores around the house.

Of 5 children, i was the only one who moved out and did not once move back in.

The other side of the coin would be my brother in law, who is 26, has no job, nor has, AFIAK ever had one, does not pay rent, help with chores or have a SO that anyone is aware of.

My thoughts exactly. My children will always have a home for as long as they need it.

I can't imagine it any other way.

yup, not everyone is ready at 18...and here there is a serious housing shortage. what little housing there is is well beyond the pockets of even the most hard working teens.

historically most people stayed with their parents until they wed. why the sudden rush to eject them from the nest?
if they are either paying rent or studying, if they respect the rules of the house, then i see no "leeching".

Point?

Who's protesting too much perg? :)

Can't fish without bait.

Ishmael

Not an expert on fishing, but it seems to me that a lot of fishing is done without "bait" as it were. Lures, spinners, flys etc, and most all commercial fishing is done with nets. Once again your argument has more holes than Rumsfeld's Iraq strategy.

I once had a sign on the fridge that said "It's been a honor to serve you during your stay and please remember check out time is 18"

While it was not 100% serious I want them to understand they cannot mooch off me and their mom till their mid 20's. If I allow that I've failed them as a parent for that means I did not teach them to be independent.

Wow.

I'm a loser.

I live at home.

I'll bet someone even covered this post already!

I'm such a loser...

Fagin beat you to it. ;)

My kid can live at home for as long as she wants.

Her kids too.

I grew up on a family farm and it is the greatest of experiences IMHO...

We just don't have family farms anymore. Or families. Like freedom, it's a lie we tell to ourselves.

Not to worry, there'll be a government program just for you soon enough. :)

Ishmael

Behind every housing shortage you'll find a well thought out rent control program.
