She's just turned 21 and is some kind of.whiz.
I don't follow it, so I'm staying home tonight with bourbon and a good book.
My man has gone to watch her do her thing.
Anyone else here into the cage-fight scene?

No, but I had a friend in college that was (or still is? I haven't checked) a UFC fighter. He had so many scars!

I am a casual fan.

I will not pay-per-view the stuff, but FOX and FX show some of it and I follow the Ultimate Fighter series.

Yeah.... I don't understand how Nikki (pseudonym) can be so into it.
She's a drop-dead gorgeous 21 year old!
She'll end up scarred as hell :(
Which is one reason I won't go warch her fight.

I do not get why people climb mountains, but they do...

I have spent over 30 years teaching martial arts, some of it fighting full-contact; it was just something I loved to do. When you lose you train harder, when you win, you train harder for both motivate in different ways plus it opened up a lot of business opportunities because a little intelligence and a lot of tenacity go a long way with other people.

We used to get together and watch all the fights when a buddy of mine was heavily into it. He bought everything that came along, and we'd have Boys' Night Out at his house.

Then his wife turned up preggers and now they have a three-year-old. It's been three-plus years since we got together, and we've all found other things to do while he and she chase a very active and very intelligent kid.

I'm going to Florida next week. Maybe some impromptu meet-and-greet could be arranged. Who do we know near Jacksonville?

Maybe it fell off and floated away.

It was dangling there, all flaccid-like.

Doesn't Our Favorite Light Kernel live down there?

Just got a message.... she won her fight. But she'll need a few stitches.
Honestly, I don't see the point.

Not even close.

He cunt hide his lying eyes,
and his smile is a thin disguise.
Thought by now you'd realize . . . .

In other news, there has been some variation in this year's stimulus package. We've had some private work arrive on the doorstep. Funny thing is, it's built worse than the Stimulus Packages.

I'm havong a ball straightening it out.

Yeah, I have to get an early start on the retirement padding today...

But, we're taking off Sunday. I went out to pick some snap peas for stir-fry last night only to discover that I missed everything and the plants have already gone to seed!

Time flies with a 60-hour work week.

Yes, it certainly can.

I have a friend who is retiring from his 30+ years with the fed courts, and he's ready to do something interesting. We're discussing a few ideas.

I doubt I ever really retire, but it would be nice to adjust the work and the number of people who have a bid in on my time.

As stated it's no different than any other sport or personal challenge.

It's about winning....domination....kicking the shit out of someone else or besting yourself and claiming "I'm better than you and I proved it by kicking your fuckin' ass.". And there is no more a pure form of that than a knock down drag out fight....except actual combat, that's the ultimate rush.

Look at everyone's face....you can see "Yea...I'm a bad mother fucker!!" written on every one of them. There is only one way to get that feeling, and it's more addicting than any drug you can buy. Like a fuckin' bawss.

Ok so you can't see this one, but after climbing Everest I assure you (s)he's got the same "Fuck YEA!!!" expression as everyone else.

Yes it is different as the damage from those fights can be disfiguring.

How many tennis stars have ears that look like this?

ballet dancers are often, in later life, near crippled by the excess wear and tear they put on their joints. people rarely question why anyone would dance.

explorers lose digits to frostbite, divers risk the bends, climbers fall, racing drivers crash.

i suppose fear of scarring is proportional to how much importance you place on your looks. to some, a cabbage ear would be the end of the world. to others, it's nothing.

Dude, you can't name a single sport out there that doesn't have some inherent risk of physical damage to it. Knees, shoulders, elbows, concussions, broken bones. I would even go so far as to say you would be hard pressed to find many where someone hasn't died, esp in the full contact/adventure categories.

Even weak sauce like Golf...shoulders/back...get tore up, lighting strikes.

High adventure? Mother nature is the most merciless adversary a person can face.

Just ask these guys...

My buddy fights in MMA. Theres a training center just outside my town. He's a big boy, has never won a fight and his nose looks like a pretzel.

Every sport is about the inherent competitive nature of human beings but not all are easily understood by those who don't do them. For the life of me I don't get why someone would rock climb. Seems incredibly stupid to me. However they probably don't get why I golf. Different personalities. Golf is better though.

This is Nikki (taken from her promo poster) trying to look tough.
