Other New Stories Competing with Nude Day Contest Entries

I have a non-contest story ready to submit, but this week is the deadline for Nude Day contest entries on Thursday 7/11. Wouldn’t there be a rush of entries these last few days, taxing Laurel’s ability to read both contest entries and regular stories? Perhaps she might give priority to approving the contest entries to allow them a fair shot at maximum readership during the 7 days when the entries are getting voted on? And wouldn’t some new story readership be diverted to the contest entries that might otherwise be available during a non-contest week?

I was thinking about waiting until next Monday to submit to make sure I stayed clear of the contest activity, both story approvals and readership. I’ve entered 2 contests so far, and I was focused on the contest portal where you see just the entries. Maybe the average reader is still looking at the New Stories page where contest entries are indistinguishable from the other new stories.

There are 75 contest entries posted and available for reading now. This is roughly the amount of final entries when I participated in the Nude Day contest 2 years ago, but I’d expect more would be entered during the final days before the deadline. The New Stories page has 575 stories on it now which I expect includes most of the contest entries. I'm not sure what the average count of new stories is during a typical week is.

Am I overthinking this?

Probably. The number of readers who have an active interest in the contest stories appears to be relatively small. You can delay to avoid contest interference and it won't hurt you, but it probably won't make much difference either way.

There shouldn't be too many last-minute contest entries. I've been submitting new stories throughout the contest time and they've been posted on the usual schedule.

I submitted a non-contest story on the 2nd, and it's set to go up tomorrow (9th).

Given that I'm still a relatively new author who's likely getting closer scrutiny, it's moderately long (8 or 9 Lit pages), was submitted just before a holiday period, and is in the middle of flurry of contest submissions, that seems reasonable, especially as Laurel is expediting contest entries and known authors.

Though I might have held back a day or two if I'd known it would be posted on the same day as Chloe's novel-sized entry. I know which one *I'd* read first!

I submitted a noncontest entry yesterday and it's scheduled to post tomorrow.

But Laurel doesn't like me. *smile*

But she knows you, and you don’t break the rules. You’re a know quantity and a prolific writer, so you’re easy to process. And Literotica is all about stories so your thru quick.

I've decided to wait on the one I have ready to go. I have read in the past that the last minute rush of a contest resulted in a short time frame for visibility on the New List...can't recall who posted that. I'm in no rush, and would prefer a chance at the longer exposure.

I have just submitted a non-contest story to get it out of the way so I can finish some Summer Lovin' entries.

And after I had submitted and closed down my computer for the night, and only then, did I see a typo on the printout - 'to' where I meant 'two'.

More seriously, I mentioned the first name of a minor character three times. The first time he was 'Graham'. A few lines later he was 'Fred' twice.

I have edited the pending story to correct both.

And it is now posted with the changes:
