I dunno if this has been done or not already, but i figured i'd throw my two cents into it...Opie and Anthony, "shock jocks" out of WNEW in New York, were FIRED today because of a sex scandal...what sex scandal you ask?

In their annual "Sex for Sam" contest, Op and Ant give tickets to the Sam Adams Summer Jam to a couple that has sex in the wildest place...turns out two knuckleheads out of VA went into some church during a Mass, and got Paul Mecurio, a refular on the show, to watch while it was going on. So they bang in the church, Mecurio is talking to O&A on the phone while its happening, they get busted, get arrested, and suddenly, descency groups and church groups are calling for O&A's head. And what happened? Well, they got it.

I for one think this is absolultly FUCKING horrible. I think that if you're gonna punish anyone, punish the couple from VA...it isnt like O&A thrust them into the church. I'm throughly pissed off by this. O&A were a highlight of my day, i've never laughed so hard as i have listening to them. Plus, with my WOW sticker on the back of my car, i've seen more boobs this summer than ever before. I truly hope that someone picks them up, someone that will go to bat for these guys, because, hell, they were syndicated in like 16 cities or something, and i'm certain there are tons of others that feel the same way i do. Anyone have any thoughts?

I've never heard the show. The first time I heard about it was when I read an article that they may be canceled.

They may not have forced the couple into the church, but they were the ones who broadcast it. When self-censoring doesn't work, higher powers must step in.

I used to listen to them, but stopped shortly after they perpetrated perhaps the cruelest thing I'd ever heard on a radio, and I"m including Jack Webb singing "Try a Little Tenderness".

To be honest, they had been pushing the limits with a few different things, including a feud with another very highly-rated syndicated show on the network, and incidents in other cities that really have left Infinity with a bad taste in their mouth.

Unfortunately, O&A share more blame, in my mind, than the couple who actually perpetrated the act. After all, if not for the radio contest, there would have been no reason fo them to do it. If not for the cajoling and encouragement, and the prizes, no sex would have happened there.

And, as far as I'm concerned, I'm rather proud that the protestors got their way in this. I like it when the "decent folk" win on once ina while.

Opie and Anthony have nothing on Johnboy and Billy. Sure, J&B have some sick humor sometimes, but for the most part, their stuff is hilarious without all the limit-pushing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for having the limits tested. But O&A pushed their luck more then they pushed the limits of society. They got what they deserve.

Jazzman, what radio incedent are you talking about exactly? i've only listened to them since they've been on WBCN here in boston, so i'm not really sure how bad they got before hand...although we had the first dose of them here, on WAAF, which they also got fired from.

i admit, they did do some sketchy things at times, but i honestly think they were two good hearted guys just in trying to entertain that 18-35 year old male ratings bracket.

I seriously dont believe they should be held responsible for this. Other stations do just as rediculas things, but since they arent nationally syndicated, things never come to the public eye.

I'm certain they knew they were going to get in trouble after it happened, and they did apologize, but does that matter? nope. So, instead of laying down a fine or just accepting an apology, lets take away two men's livelyhoods. Isnt that rather harsh?

Well, that they're syndicated really isn't that big a deal. Stern, Don and Mike, and Bob and Tom are all syndicated, but they don't get into nearly that much trouble because they don't push the envelope that hard, that often. They've learned something that O&A havent - that you can push the envelope a really lot once in a while, but not all the time. I would ahve thought that they'd learn that after getting fired from AAF not even two years ago.

just so you know the couple plans on filing litigation against either o&a or wnew or their parent corp for not informing them they could be arrested for having sex in a public place and for not providing them with legal counsel afterwards.

i think o&a is great they provided the people with entertainment by seeing how much the female snatch can hold and finding out which chick who had the best body they let the masses know what porn stars really think and brought out the best in botches everywhere i am sure that they will get picked up hopefully by a tv station so we can actually see some of these hot biotches doing the only thing they can showing off their bodies

And the couple who fucked in the Church were fucking morons. How did they reach their 30s with no common sense? How OBVIOUS is it that it would get them arrested if caught?

And Howard pushed the envelope quite a bit. We're just used to him now, not to mention he's really chilled out over the past few years so he's not a huge deal anymore.

There is nothing better than crappy, offensive humor when you're stressed out on the way home from work - which is how I found them on the radio. This is the shit you talk about in private with your friends, crap you giggle secretly about at home because it's inappropriate to do it in public. And there it was on the radio. It was great.

They went from nothing to big time in a very short time period, and the stations that carried them will feel the loss. And this isn't from a fan perspective, this is from experience with Radio.

I'm sure the stations that fucked over/fired/hated Howard Stern shit themselves, and regretted everything they did to him once he hit it big time on another station.
