OOC: Just a little Rant

lol its alright and I know you mean well. I read a few stories that had those types of errors and yes it does make you stop and think "What the?" And read it a few times. It does mess up the flow of the story and ruins in some cases, the mood setting as well. I can understand your rant and your input.
There is always a difference in words like Patience and Patience ( might be spelled wrong, i hate those two words lol)

Yeah, those are strange.
How about this for a twisted sentence.

The doctor must have been a saint, he always remained patient, though his patience was tested daily by his patients.

lol see, exactly my meaning. I have a dictionary, and a Thesarus and still I can not get the spelling right on those two!!!!!

*shaking head* whoever made up the english language should be shot! lol

Ozme,

It is not my persona that should matter, but rather the validity of my arguments. And if you came to know me, you would find that I am far more chickadee than chicken.

Since tone can easily be misread through this kind of forum, I am going to reconsider and give you the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps your post truly was well meaning and motivated by a genuine desire to "help." Perhaps your comments were meant to be humorous rather than scathing.

Please keep in mind that the SRP boards are something entirely different from an edited story. SRP is more a kind of "performance art." We have a very diverse group of people who post on the board and I would hate to see anyone feel embarrassed or inhibited after having their words analyzed beneath a microscope.

Communication is the key here and it is obvious that you understood the meaning behind the confused words. As Miss Victoria pointed out, the "gist" of the post remains intact. It's not like you were reading incoherent gibberish. Homonyms are words with the same pronounciation as another but with a different meaning and spelling. (Examples: blue, blew; red, read; to, too, two; bores, boars, etc.)

If your intent was constructive criticism, perhaps a better approach would have been to simply have started a thread on commonly confused words, inviting other posters to offer tips and suggestions. But to quote other people's writing and make little "comments" where it is not asked for? That's belittling.

For any writer to improve in either area of form or content, he/she must want to achieve this end. It's a process. It is not something that you can force upon someone. Rushing in and quoting a list of individuals' writing mistakes really is not the most productive way to "help" anyone get better.
