a convoluted plot with 2 accomplices (2 licensed machine-gun makers), involving 50 caliber machine guns and some 100 letters over 3-4 years... all for turning a profit, naturally. and yet he only gets 6 months house arrest as a part of 3 years' probation? am i missing something here? bought illegally, sold to the machine gun companies who sold them on at a profit.Former Addyston Police Chief Dorian LaCourse, 66, was sentenced to six months of house arrest as part of three years probation for his role in a scheme to help gun dealers buy machine guns.
LaCourse placed orders for 200 fully-automatic machine guns. They are illegal to sell or possess in the US, unless you have a very rare and specific license to do so.
The current chief of police for the Village of Addyston, Eric Pennekamp, had only been on the job for a few weeks when federal agents raided the former chief's office, finding $6,000 cash from the illegal sales, and eventually, more than 100 illegally-obtained machine guns and 52,500 rounds of ammunition.
