Former Addyston Police Chief Dorian LaCourse, 66, was sentenced to six months of house arrest as part of three years probation for his role in a scheme to help gun dealers buy machine guns.

LaCourse placed orders for 200 fully-automatic machine guns. They are illegal to sell or possess in the US, unless you have a very rare and specific license to do so.

a convoluted plot with 2 accomplices (2 licensed machine-gun makers), involving 50 caliber machine guns and some 100 letters over 3-4 years... all for turning a profit, naturally. and yet he only gets 6 months house arrest as a part of 3 years' probation? am i missing something here? bought illegally, sold to the machine gun companies who sold them on at a profit.

The current chief of police for the Village of Addyston, Eric Pennekamp, had only been on the job for a few weeks when federal agents raided the former chief's office, finding $6,000 cash from the illegal sales, and eventually, more than 100 illegally-obtained machine guns and 52,500 rounds of ammunition.

not enough details yet but there were 200 ordered. cops found 100. now maybe the other 100 hadn't arrived, but there was also $6,000 in cash found... now i don't know how much the companies were buying each machine gun for, or how many they actually ended up buying. So until we know that it's hard to say how many may end up and where.

Who the fuck can afford to shoot a single fire .50 much less a full auto? Those rounds don't come cheap or easy. I mean sure, make it a package deal which is pretty typical but usually you get a hundred rounds or so. Maybe couple boxes if you're lucky. That's gone after sighting in the scope.
