Oh Canada .....

I doubt it was getting much use back in 1980. Was still in use for maritime distress. Maybe spies still used it. Not sure. Probably just used as an aptitude test.

Negative. Mile Zero is Dawson Creek. Fort Nelson is about Mile 284

Well, as I remember, the caption of the photo was at Ft Nelson and they said the start of the work. Forgot about milepost #s, but do recall that an advance group did start from Ft Nelson.

Sounds right. The road was already there from Dawson to Nelson by 1942.

Dude needs to get a bit of curvature on that stick. As the ultimate referee I doubt he will get penalized for it.

I would hardly call it neglected.
Its not overly funded but there isn't a huge population either.
The whole of Northwest Territory is smaller than North Bay at a pop of 50,000 and 20,000 of that is in Yellowknife.

Then again, if we take some refugee funding and spend it on the north.....
Or just send them there and spend it on them there:D

My point was that it's easy to point a finger about the "failure" of our health care system.... but pretty sure that Alaska ain't perfect, either, eh? :D

Yup, my daughter and son in law are in the system up there...there's lots more to complain about..actually there's not, cept maybe the mail...takes 2 weeks to get a letter to her

I'm all for settling refugees in the north. We need more folk up there. In old days immigrants went to frontier and pioneer lands. Cash spent resettling refugees would indeed benefit northern communities. Considering conditions were they came from remote northern community might still be an improvement.

Yeah I'm betting American native far north communities have just as much to complain about.

Conditions on northern native lands are truly deplorable. Canada's shame.

Now you're just being silly

They have nothing to complain about.
They get all the money they need. They just don't want it.
They are deplorable by our standards, not by theirs

Natives are the kind of lazy drunks who get a free house from the government, then tear it apart to burn in the woodstove so they don't have to go anywhere for firewood.

Thats why we are building them with metal studs, concrete board instead of drywall and steel cupboards
