From the Author's Hangout:

News:-

I have received a letter from Ogg's wife who informs me that Ogg died on the 30th May, peacefully at home with his family.
His funeral is scheduled for 14-07-23 at 15:20hrs. His daughter Kate is investigating the possibility of live-streaming this event.

May he rest in Peace.

He was also a frequent poster here on the PB whether you agreed with him or not.

He was one of the more thoughtful, engaging, and reasonable people on here, a great writer and educator. I am sad to hear this. I knew he was in poor health but I always hoped he would pull through.

He had his moments. His comments occasionally inspired rancor and sometimes consisted of spite but they always promoted his point of view on the issues. The debate was spirited because it was driven by his spirit.

May his spark help light the sky in the afterlife.

I knew he had been ill and I wondered out loud where he was, inwardly concerned it might be bad news. We had our problems but I'm sorry to hear he has passed on

His absence was notable, spirited debater, so sad. Rest in peace OGG and my condolences to the family.

He was the type of poster I always aspired to be. Admittedly, sometimes I fall short, largely because I get more easily frustrated with certain things I encounter on this forum. But I admired not only his knowledge, but the way he was able to explain things in a reasonable and fair way.

I respected his bravery and honesty about his cancer. Not many on here have that type of courage. RIP Ogg!

I'm sorry to hear about this. I'm on this board less frequently than some others, and i had been wondering about Ogg.

Makes you realize who really contrbutes to the sense of community on Lit. He really did.
