Off to NYC.. what do I need to Bring/See/Buy?

Sao, the "big dirty" is a terrific place, it truly never sleeps.
There are so many things to see. Check with the hotel, GrayLine tours are still the best way to sightsee.
Statue of Liberty is awesome. My favorite place is just off Wall Street, on Church. There's a statue there of Geo Washington where he took the oath of office as the first President.
Harlem may be a bit rough for an Irish lassie, but it's where the Apollo Theater is.............so much of american music owes it's start to that place.
Central Park is beautiful in the winter, especially from a horsedrawn cab
Ellis Island, where all the immigrants came, before entering the country........including my mother
The list is endless
Now if only I wasn't 400 miles away

You've had some pretty good advice there, though as someone who has worked with equine rescue, I cannot agree that the horse drawn carriages are a good investment. I have seen the quality of life of those horses and wouldn't encourage anyone to support their owners.
The list of things to do in NYC is nearly endless. When checking out Central Park, stop in the American Museum of Natural History. And whilst in a museum frame of mind, the Metropolitan Museum of Art is always a great experience.
There are clubs all over N.Y.
I've only been to a few, but one that I like is The Cutting Room, 19 West 24th Street. Very often some great entertainment there.

how long will you be in NY?
Don't use a ticket agency, just go to the box office the day of the show, you won't have to pay the astronomical prices the agencies charge.

I think it's good that people have given Sao all this great advice about theatres and shopping and all, but surely it will be a miracle if she gets out of the hotel bedroom.

I do hope you have a great time. I did when we went last spring.
My fav places were Central Park, the Empire State Building (I totally loved the view), the museuams were awesome and the shopping was good but very expensive (on Canadian dollars anyway )
We went to one show and it was great....we found a very good play that had two or three well know stars in it which was fun. We went to see a taping of the David Letterman show....that was fun too.
The food is great sooooo much to choose from no matter where you are. The clubs are fun....I dont remember where we went we were visiting a friend and he brought us to a few.
As far as bringing stuff...it is going to be cold and snowy so have stuff that will keep you comfy while you tour around during the day and night. Other than that.....bring credit cards the most important item!!!
Oh, and maybe a blindfold for your hubby so he doesnt see you using said credit cards and for later in the hotel room too!!!

Pizza in NYC is very good, but the best is in Brooklyn.
Bring warm clothes, it's freakin' freezing here!
Chinatown is always interesting.
Lady Liberty at South Street Seaport, if she's there this time of year.
One impressive piece of architecture is St Patrick's Cathedral.
I'm kinda likin' the plenty of sex & camera idea, though...
