The next time a Liberal goes on and on about how:
a. the poor are obese because they cannot afford healthy food
b. the poor are not educated enough to same healthy decisions for themselves and/or kids

Just smack them and show the this link.

Excerpt:
High-income countries have greater rates of obesity than middle- and low-income countries (1). Countries that develop wealth also develop obesity; for instance, with economic growth in China and India, obesity rates have increased by several-fold. The international trend is that greater obesity tracks with greater wealth.

I thought the poor were obese because they are irresponsible and too lazy to shop around for healthy food.

I think poor people who might be working 70 hours a week will never be able to afford a vacation or a new car make short sighted , cheap thrill decisions.

High income countries are the only ones that have access to enough food to be obese. Seriously do a google of McDonalds and trace the average income of the citizens and their obesity. You can start with China since you brought it up.

See my OP. The issue is not quantity. See the OP for the reasons Lib raise the most as the cause. Has nothing to do with quantity.

I can buy some chicken, fish, vegetables, fruit and some healthy snacks for the week and it's about the same price as two meals from McDonald's.

Using being 'poor' as an excuse to buy junk food is ludicrous.

Libs raise a great deal more reasons than that but whatever. I'm not really in the mood for you yet.

The mistake you make is that the word "poor" is too situational to be used in an argument like that. You talk about something else than the "Liberal" that you are so keen on telling the world what he thinks.

It's not about abject famished poverty. It's about being on the lower end of the bell curve in an otherwise affluent mass consumerist society.
