Obedience

if my Mistress and I are comfortable with a public display, that's between us.

Actually, that's part of it being "public". It's not between you two. Or do you think someone streaking through a busy street is only keeping his body to himself?

If there's one thing I've learned on the internet, it's that if there is a designated section for something, put it THERE. The reason people are jumping on you is because you posted a piece of erotica in a discussion forum. People are not expecting erotica, and those who did not wish to be exposed to your personal life now are without meaning to expose themselves. You pretty much just Rick'Rolled everyone :p And it's not that Rick Astley is all that horrible (the song is actually kinda catchy, really), but when you're expecting a video of fuzzy pandas, it kind of pisses you off! Except in this case instead of a catchy love song, we were treated to as much of someone's personal play time as we read before we realized there was no actual discussion. You may be alright with public displays, but for those who do not wish to observe them, they shouldn't have to :) Just like the old lady walking down the street shouldn't have to observe the naked streaker's junk in the wind, even if the streaker feels fine in his skin.

I encourage you to remain and settle your feathers a bit :)

Am I the only one here with a back button, or touch pad with the capacity for scrolling on by? I really don't understand the ohmygodI'vebeenexposedtotextonascreenwithoutmyconsent line.

The thing about public displays is that you're... you know.... displaying yourself to the public. You can't control their reactions, and you look very silly if you try. If you can't deal with the inability to control their reactions to something, well.... maybe you shouldn't be doing it out in public.

Same thing with stories. If you write one, and you'll have a hissy fit if people don't interpret it the way you intended, well.... maybe you should keep that tale private.

QFT. I was expecting "What ways a pyl could show ideal obedience toward their PYL?" or "Top 10 ways on how to get an unruly pyl to obey" or somesuch. Not "Hey everyone, listen to how I obey my Mistress". I gotta agree... for me, it was a rickroll of sorts... it just kind of became a "cool story, bro... tl;dr tho" issue.

Uhm... I wouldn't equate posting a story about sex on a sex forum with streaking in front of someone's grandma. That's a little much.

Can't we at least just get upset at her for posting this in the wrong place?

The story boils down to a tale of one person humping and cuddling pillows, in a desperate attempt to forge a connection with another human being.

As such, I consider both the vocabulary used, and the forum placement, beside the point entirely. I find this tale rather hauntingly sad.
Yeah, but imagine putting your sub on a pile of pillows and instructing her to stay there squirming on them all evening while you do "more important things."

Really soft pillows. The kind that melt away right when her clit wants more contact...

My control issues don't extend to message board post placement, so I personally don't give a fuck.

But my control issues don't extend to what you post, either, so if you're asking me, my answer is: go right ahead.

Sadist!

That's hot.

Of course it was an exaggeration :p It's called hyperbole in order to make a point. In anycase, I'm not upset that I ended up reading a couple paragraphs of erotica before I realized this wasn't a discussion. I was just trying to illustrate why others might be offended and why being in a public place means that it's not just between you and your partner.

That's fine, I don't either.

And that question was rhetorical. You need to loosen up, buddy~ ;)

Problem solved. Please return to your regularly scheduled gripe fest.

A few comments here were both appreciated and sensible. Too many to quote. To those I do apologize. It was foolish to think that the post would have been immune to forum trolls regardless of context or theme.

And to the one who welcomed me, that's kind, I might check back in a few months from now. Maybe.

There are BDSM discussion forums where that post would have been well received. Don't fuckin hyper-ventilate people. You could have ignored it.

Interpreting a question as an actual question, rather than a rhetorical one, is a matter of literal reading. Not inability to relax, or failure to put things in perspective in the important/unimportant sense.

Sometimes I know people well enough to guess their intent, beyond what is literally written. Many times, I don't.

Oh failures of internet communication!

if this type of post were not allowed in this forum, the mods would have moved it.

if you or your mistress had followed the any of the existing discussions regarding public displays "affection," you would have seen how people react to this topic. i don't understand why people get their panties in a wad, when they place themselves in the situation to begin with.

go relax. straighten out your emotions. you just shared a piece of yourself, and received the sadist welcome to the forum. it's not personal. there are good people here. they get protective of their territory, and don't like it used as public masturbation grounds. there are special areas for that.

Then why didn't you post it there if you know their rules so much better?

Note to self: Moar emotes.

We have a passive-aggressive thread in the cafe, if you'd like to join it...

-Nods-
I can understand that, but if that were the case there would be no need for this site or any like it. Not picking on your view just saying, I have seen a few people with that view and I have to wonder. Is it cause you feel shy about your sexual acts?

Not shy at all. :) I just think that there's a difference between talking about concepts etc abstractly, or even some acts in detail, and putting the inner workings of my relationship on show.

Like, I'd have no issue discussing needleplay etc, and working out new things to try, or asking the folks here the most comfortable position to get my ankles behind my ears, or talking about wiitwd as a life, but if I'd done some thing that warranted 'punishment' then that would be kept between us.

If that makes sense.

*Grins* Yes it does.

Now on to the rest of the people who posted. *Shakes head* You oldies that have been here a while its kinda sad...your place? WTF lol if you come across a posting you don't agree with just move the fuck on. Really. Sad thing is if you guys keep the shit you showed in this thread going its only members will be you few. She nailed it on the head when you stated how she was received here. Kinda fucked up people. Its not your thread or even your bdsm territory. Fuck i am new too and its is no more your site then it is mine.

Best point made here was that if it wasn't in the right place the mod's would of moved it. Very true and case closed. We really need to stop putting so much stock into what is bdsm to the masses and take on a simple view on things.

And the flip side of that argument is that the steady diet of "gosh golly gee I deserve to be "punished"/etc over the years have driven off some really insightful, intelligent, experienced posters over the years (primarily PYL types).

But ya know what? It's a free speech site. You get to bitch and moan about grumpy "old timers" as much as you like, others get to critique "newbies" to their hearts content. Things eventually balance out one way or another. (... and you end up with the BDSM forum of today - lots more fluff than substance.)

* ETA - I don't think the mods can actually move a forum topic post to the publishing side of the site, as I believe submissions have to be done by the author, him/herself. So no, the mods couldn't have moved the thread "if it was in the wrong place".

I can on my site so pretty sure they can here. And mouse you hit it on the head as well. Free speech...

I can on my site as well. And Vbulliten certinly has the capabilities, if the owners wanted to set them up. But in fact, they don't want to set the mods up with much power at all. Never have, never will, trust me on this one-- I have had a number of fruitless conversations with Laurel on the topic I think ALL internet forums need and deserve some protection against mindless trolls-- laurel considers trolling to be protected by free speech laws. So go figure.

I'm more of an in between person. It'd be nice to be protected from trolls, but I've been on forums where a troll is anyone who disagrees with the mod so I appreciate Laurel not giving the mods that kind of power.

To be fair, it's always just a matter of time before some mod goes into a frenzy of purification.

I know of one forum system where the anarchic principles work-- and only by way of a lot of hard work from the technicians, and that's at the forums at craiglist.org

The forums there are kind of scary; they remind me of the GB.
