i just ordered our tickets for this year's Nutcracker performance....the lil miracle is so excited....she just squealed when we talked about it....it's so cool to have started this tradition of going with her and my Mom for the past few years.....really puts you in the Christmas spirit.....

our local ballet company and symphony work with a Russian ballet troupe.....and it's just an amazing performance....the non-principal roles danced by local kids.....

is the Nutcracker part of your holiday celebrations?

how old were you the first time you saw it?

(we're taking the lil miracle to see Cats the weekend before Christmas....now she has the video of the musical....knows it....but was far more thrilled to hear about the Nutcracker tickets than Cats..weird, huh?....but cool all the same....;) )

One slip and it'll give a whole new meaning to the word castration!

I think the bulge in a male dacer's tights is totally unsexy. No form.

I haven't been in years. I will definitely have to make a point of it this year.

I can so easily see the 3 of you, in the front row, just taking it all in, your eyes darting now and then to take in the lil miracle's reaction, and your mom doing the same for her babies.

<happy sigh>

Awww, shucks. Maybe some other time.

After the eggnog maybe.

you use eggnog as lube during the holidays?....cool....well....as cool as dairy products on your genitals can be.....

. . . . a tastee cooling sensation. Especially when bald.

We used to take the girls and made a big night of it. A special dinner at a nice restaurant. Everyone all dressed up. One year we did a blue velvet theme and all three of us had some variation of that, including capes and gloves. Afterwards was a special drive to look at christmas lights. It was fun.

NOW, I'm not allowed to go to the movies on the same nights as them, because is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO uncool to be seen with your parents at the movies. Teenagers!

So, no, we won't be doing the nutcracker thing this year. I'm thinking of writing a new book "How to survive the holidays with Teenagers"

Not the Nutcracker, but every year we would get tickets to the Radio City Christmas Show from my grandparents and the whole family would go, sometimes all the aunts and uncles and cousins on the same day too. A visit to Rockefeller Center to see the big tree and mybe skating, a trip to FAO Schwartz to spend the Christmas money, roast chestnuts from the sidewalk vendors...very sepcial memories indeed. I tell ya, I don't think any other city does up Christmas quite like NY.

I just got tickets to go too ! Dec 23.....my first time going to a live performance.......However, I watch the classic version every year with Baryishikov ( ?) and Gelsey Kirkland.....

LOVE LOVE LOVE....

I think they were lovers when they performed that.... before he hooked up for a while with jessica lange.....

Actually , a very interesting read is "Dancing on my Grave"
by Gelsey Kirkland.

Okay, i'm getting way off topic here :)

LOL Someplace, I know just what you mean. My youngest is 13 now. instead of the nutcracker we go to an area mall and do something there, usually an ornament hunt (yup they actually get into that!) And then we top it off with a nice dinner someplace close by. They even talk about it some months later.

lol someplace and Trail....yikes.....teenagers....

mmmmmm Peachy......i've always wanted to go to NYC during Christmas season....funnnn....

yay for you sporty! :)

You arn't alone.

Hopefully make it to the Nutcracker this year. My wife has been meaning to do it for the past three years.

"Mommy you're going to have to hold my hand when the Big Mean Rat comes out, okay?"

she's so excited...just a few more days.....****! ;)

has anyone else been to see it yet this Christmas?

My friends and I go every year. I wouldn't miss it for the world. It has become such a tradition. We're going this Saturday. The costumes, the music, the talent, all marvelous. One of the many wonderful things of the holiday season!

I hope you have fun with your little one.
