There's something odd about watching the succeeding generation who were only children an eye blink before moving on in life and marrying. I've watched nieces and nephews as well as friends children crossing that transition. Seeing step children I'd only shared a few short years with do so was much the same.
What was most awkward was learning how much kids I'd let be themselves without judging them regarded me. They're all very protective of me which is awkward since that's always been my job. Maybe teaching good values and how to make good memories is life's best reward.
