I see you made it back from the wilds :)

Well, it was 35 years ago, I'd imaging the club members are not in dancing condition anymore. They seemed elderly to me at the time. They were probably in there 50's :D

I did see the Book of Kells. It was why I initially sought out Trinity. It was at a pub there at Trinity, or near it, that I met the students who took me along with them to the Football game. Actually, it was rugby now that I think about it.

From Geronimo's posts, I was under the impression that 'fuck', 'fucking', 'fucked' as well as 'cunt' and other variants were regularly used throughout the Queen's colonies :D

I have a several other good adventure stories and many great memories from my two visits to Great Britian.

I missed the Book of Kells, actually. Must go back. I never went to see it when I was working there, went back for a weekend about ten years later, a lovely couple of days in County Waterford (I think), then back to Dublin. It was a Bank Holiday weekend, so a public holiday on the Monday, but everything in Dublin was shut. Everything!

Yes, 'fuck' and its various declensions are regularly heard, but not usually in a professional context ;) And of course in Dublin when they say it it sounds more like 'fock' than 'fuck'.

A taxi driver in Dublin once asked me if I'd read any James Joyce, and I had to confess that I had not. "Don't blame you", he said, "it's filthy. Focking filthy":D

I'm glad you enjoyed your visits over here and to Ireland, AF . I do think we need to hear more of your adventure stories  *arranges some popcorn and a row of chairs*

Oh to see you all wet.

Oh, not what you meant

:eek::devil::D

Cycling and arousal are not compatible at all for me. I cannot fuck and cycle on the same day, unless many hours pass between the two activities. I once woke up in a state of rather moist excitement after a wholly inappropriate dream about a British comedian (I'm not saying which one...). Then I attempted a long cycle ride, including several enormous hills. Not comfortable at all  :D

I got to Dublin

Loved the Book of Kells, and got a nice book by Evelyn Waugh;( in Edinburgh) so funny, the English aristos at war!

In the shadows

Wow, you've been sitting quietly in the shadows all this time, just watching? Well, that's good to know...! You should come out and chat sometimes ;)

That also gives me an idea for a new rambling... Watching. Being watched. That sort of thing...

I've been in the shadows for over 10 years and this will be post 998 !! I could tell you about my time in the shadows but then .... you know how that sentence ends!!

Watching, being watched - you are always watched, do you wonder who has watched you as you ramble down the boulevard of life? Does that smile on the strangers face mean more than he is appreciating a beautiful woman?? Hmmm DAve :kiss::heart::heart:

"Vile Bodies"? "Brideshead Revisited"?

That's a weird little work, Brideshead... extremely slim volume. It's that rare thing for me, something which, for me, was better on screen than on the page. There was a brilliant multi-part adaptation years and years ago, Claire Bloom, Jeremy Irons, Jane Asher. Those names probably mean nothing to you, but... It was slow-paced, heart-breaking, beautifully shot, wonderful locations. *sighs* I found the more recent film a bit disappointing in comparison.

Or maybe it was something else of Waugh's?

Nothing wrong with a bit of shadowy mystery :) You must have seen some comings and goings in ten years here. No pun intended. For a change ;) I'm very honoured that you've posted in here.

I have much ruder watching/being watched in mind, actually. But I think you probably realised that ;)

Are you really? *Gives you multiple vigorous bumps* ;)

I am doing well...how are you? :rose:

I think the weekend is perfect for bumping, no? *big wink*

I'm very well, thank you. Back to work tomorrow, although it's mainly travelling, to be honest, and then a possible dinner meeting tomorrow night before the main event on Tuesday.

Benny Hill? Rowan Atkinson?

Perfect for bumping and grinding:devil:;)

I never liked dinner meetings....I like to enjoy a meal in peace....

Safe trip Numi

Numi:heart: I've come for a snuggle!

Honey! Happy New Year, gorgeous. I have a very real sense that this is going to be a significant one for you

I have to sleep now, early start tomorrow, but let's talk about some delightful fantasy together soon

Hehe, that's the idea ;)

No, I hope it doesn't happen, especially as he's an egotistical twat (not to put too fine a point on it ). Fingers crossed :) And thank you

My turn to sleep - go kick some butt, and we'll catch up soon.

Well, I have learned that along with his enormous ego goes disorganisation and a poor memory. So I'm coming to the conclusion that my best option is to roll with it, then tell him later what I want him to have said/decided/told the client. He never documents anything and he doesn't remember, so this plan might just work... :D

Now, about that fantasy... *stares dreamily into space*

Sword of Honour, so hilarious, cynical. Jumped around a lot. The old English officers were always in a club, with plenty of booze even during training.

Jeremy Irons, Anthony Andrews... sigh...

I know... sigh...

Unfortunately Anthony Andrews has disappeared without trace (presumably with teddy bear tucked under arm), and Jeremy Irons seems to have gone a bit bonkers, making weird pronouncements about allowing gay marriage leading to people marrying their brothers and so on (what?). Still a great actor, though. And married to the incredible Sinead Cusack, I love her.

I haven't read that one. I'll have to look it up. Worth reading?
