Nude Day 2011 Contest Support Thread

And by the way Sr71plt, every topic -- sorry, EVERY TOPIC falls short. Topics in and of themselves are merely vessels, the writer must push to create characters that come alive (as opposed to the cardboard sort). They must use erotic and arousing diction, to set a pace and mood, sometimes a moment calls for a bit of humor. All or most of these things must be handled in a deliberate fashion to make a particularly good story.

Tx and the rest, if you want to summon your skills and apply them to an unpopular holiday, more power to you. I've said what I wanted to say about these contests.

Not in the way that the concept of Nude does, I don't think--especially if it's a standard topic run every year. Other topics don't limit like "nude" does. That leads right into hackneyed situations. Lots of other topics don't provide a required tunnel like that.

Nude comes across as a sophomoric, twitterpatted phase much before you get to erotica--an instant anticlimax.

But, as you posted, those who want to contain themselves in this tea cup are welcome to do so. Doesn't stop me from giving my opinion.

*gets out the sage to smudge again and sprinkles pixie dust for positivity*

Sorry but sage and pixie dust doesn't work on people who are so far above all us little writers here on Lit. Why they spend time here is beyond me but they do and we are stuck with them.

Hope everyone is writing for our little non-contest. I know i am.

I know TxRad, but it makes me feel better. :) 12,000 words. I was sick for almost 2 weeks and trying to get back into the swing of things, now. I'm finally to a steamy scene. How is/are yours/yours' going?

I have a number started both old and new.

I'm headed back to work in a few hours so i might get enough time to finish at least one, maybe two. I no longer have Internet where I'm working, which is a bane and a boon.I was hoping to resolve that but it doesn't seem to be on the near horizon.

Anyway i have another few weeks to whip something into shape.

No sage and pixie dust here, just hard work, dedication, and a passion for writing. I'm having fun.

To me, it doesn't matter the theme or the topic. I can summon the inspiration to write just about anything. Isn't that what real writers do?

When your editor hands you an assignment, do you squawk that you can't write that? You just do your job. You just think about it and then write it.

I dunno why someone would complain that a Nude Day theme was not a good theme to write about on a porn story site.

No surprise – they’re all later chapters of stories started long ago.

3 more winners came from NON HUMAN and another came from GAY. Of the 30 “Monthly Winners” announced so far for 2010 we have 10 Non Human/Sci Fi winners, 7 from the Romance category and 4 Gay stories.

And what does your post about the monthly contest stories from last year have to do with the upcoming Nude Day story, Scouries?

The starting gun has been fired.

The official contest thread was posted today.

I've decided to try and enter the contest. I thought of passing it up but I've entered every contest since 've been writing here. To prove I'm not a threat I'm writing a cheating (Loving Wife) story. So far it going to be quite long.I've already written over 14,000 words and not near done yet.
It's always fun to ride the roller coaster when your expectations are set to high. LOL
Good luck all

I'm glad to see you stretching yourself by writing in a different category (lol). Just kidding.

I have a Loving Wives story, too, Renee, Todd, Nude Day, and Lady Gaga (lol). Then, again, I have 22 stories in 20 categories.

Nude Day is one of my favorite contests.

Good luck to you.

SURVIVOR RULES:

Bonuses

Special Contest bonus: In addition to the 35 regular categories, ScoreCards have a Special Contest Bonus heading. Submissions under this heading must be valid entries accepted in a Literotica Special Contest. Only one entry per contest is eligible for this bonus, and if it is counted under this heading, it cannot be counted under a regular category.
• Special Contest bonuses:
o For each entry on a Literotica Special Contest (limited to 1 entry per Special Contest): 5 points;
o For having entered all Literotica Special Contests: 30 points.

*** NEW RULE INTERPRETATION ***

I received a question today from one of our SURVIVOR contestants asking for clarification on how many points will be awarded to stories entered in the various SPECIAL “THEMED” CONTESTS that occur at various times during the year. The existing rule has been quoted above.

The rule has been interpreted two ways by our various contestants in the past. One group believes that a SURVIVALIST is only allowed to enter one story in each ‘special contest’ under the present wording of the rules.

Another believes that you can enter as many stories as you want in each ‘special contest’ and get points for them all.

I’ve asked one of America’s most prominent jurists on his interpretation of the rule as presently written and he told me that the wording is not clear and he suggested I clarify it forthwith. After consultations with experts in the PALACE we’ve decided that the rule will read as follows:

Special Contest bonus: In addition to the 35 regular categories, ScoreCards have a Special Contest Bonus heading. Submissions under this heading must be valid entries accepted in a Literotica Special Contest. Only one entry per contest is eligible for this bonus, and any other stories entered in the Special Contest will not receive any other SURVIVOR contest points at all – neither Special Contest bonuses nor Regular Category points.

I hope this clarifies it for everyone.

And keep your questions cumming...

Gabrielle
2011 Survivor Contest Director

Now this is good news for all of us!

Thanks for helping out the SURVIVALISTS (and us!) honey…

Hmm, let's see, being that I'm presently leading the 2011 Survivor Contest, I had 30 stories entered in the Valentine's Day contest, 14 stories entered in the Earth Day contest, and plan on entering 22 stories in the Nude Day contest. By my calcuations, that's 66 stories in just theme contest, a new record.

My point is simple. All of my 66 theme contest stories count as points in the Survivor Contest.

Thank you Scouries for clarifying nothing but creating confusion. Perhaps you should think about selling cars. Being that you talk out of both sides of your mouth with double talk, you'd be a success.

Jeanne D'Artois started writing a Nude Day entry but was diverted to an incomplete Laundry Tale.

That has now been submitted and she's back to work on the Nude Day story, but will she finish it in time?

Please watch this thread.

I'm going to start revising my sci-fi Nude Day story today. You can submit as early as you want, and so long as you have the correct notes, it goes up with the first bunch, right?

Yes. As long as you put "NUDE DAY STORY CONTEST 2011" in the Notes field. (Edited! Words were in wrong order.)

you can’t win with little ralphie ! he’s been whining for months about the lack of survivor contest moderator and now, once his demands have been met, he’s whining again… and no ralphie, your 21 extra THEME CONTEST entries will not count in the SURVIVOR CONTEST.

*Sigh* Now our resident troll is not only pretending to run fraudulent contests, he's falsely claiming to be running an official contest ( as well as occasionally impersonating a moderator )

Better feel lucky, delusional one. Anywhere else on the internet, you would not only be banned and have every bit of data associated with you purged from the servers, you'd probably have been reported to every forum spam database on the Web.

So nice to be on a completely unmoderated forum

I've got a couple of ideas for this contest. It's a matter of whether I'll have the time to write them or not. I really need to finish a couple of chapters of ongoing ( both posted and not ) stories before I start anything new.

I finished my story. Now I have to go through it and edit it a dozen times before sending it to someone else to edit. Big problem over 23800 words. quite long for a contest entry. Might have to pass on the contest and submit it in a few chapters. Don't really like doing that. Loving wife to top it off.
DG

I don't have the time for it, but I was thinking a good possible idea would be: a girl from a modest culture/upbringing goes to another culture for, say, Peace Corps or missionary work, where the local culture is nudist. Her luggage gets lost, she's very limited with clothes, maybe a few get stolen or traded about by the locals, and she pretty much has to go native. I thought about it, but I just don't think I can do it justice for the contest.

Anyone else have ideas they can't use and want to share?

Hi all, I would like a few opinions. I finished my Nude day story and it is slightly over 24,00o words. Knocking out a couple of thousands words probably wouldn't make a big difference since it's long anyway.

Would you enter it in the contest or break it down into a few chapters and submit it non=contest. It has been edited and I kind of like it. It is in loving wifes.

Just asking what others would do. I like playing in the contests but I doubt if loving wifes ever won any.
Thanks
DG Hear:confused:

I think longer stories do well. I'd probably submit it. It'd get a lot of exposure, after all, in the contest.

Thanks for replying. I have had long stories in contest before but not this long. I don't worry about winning but my scores during contests are always a few points lower than during non-contest. Now loving wives is anther ball of wax. I can almost gaurantee the reads and votes but they aren't always good votes either. LOL
