5 dead and suspect killed in Toronto area condo shooting

Five people were shot and killed in a condominium unit a Toronto suburb and the gunman was killed by police, authorities said late Sunday.

The Wayne virus is deadly.

The UK's, Australia's, and New Zealand's gun bans work very well.
Is that why the UK had to implement a knife ban too? Because people only used guns to kill with and once those were outlawed nobody ever attacked anyone with anything else?

You banned an object. You FAILED to understand that the object wasn't what was killing people. It was only the means that the killers used and once it was gone, killers switched to other tools like knives. Which has now required that you ban those as well.

Yet the killers are still out there walking around freely in your society. They're probably wondering what you'll ban next in your efforts to disarm their future victims.

states with stricter gun laws have less gun deaths per capita.

derp.

You glossed over schism's factoid, Derpy.

WE KNOW WHY

No. we didn't fail to understand. We knew that more people could be killed in a short time with a gun than with a knife.

Yes, we have knife crime. Carrying a knife in public is an offence, for which many are prosecuted.

But look at our rate of murders compared with the US, adjusted for population.

We are, and always have been, far lower.

You have the problem. We don't except at a very much lower level..

And yet wasn't there a guy who killed several people in a stabbing spree at a mall just recently? Doesn't that sort of tell you that your bullshit about "more people could be killed in a short time" is complete crap when reality hits you in the face?

And pointing out that other countries have higher stats doesn't absolve YOURS from also having deaths which your "ban" was supposed to prevent but doesn't. Gun bans don't work because they don't affect the real problem. They are feel good bandaids designed to appease a political lobby rather than solve the true problem.

Killing people with an assault rifles is easier than killing people with a knife. No question.

In Canada, a knife is a weapon if the blade is a certain length, etc.

You say you’re a lawyer, go read the law.

Nothing to see here, move along.
Lol, banning objects no matter how big or small isn't going to stop killers from picking up other objects.

That you can't see that only shows how limited your intellect is.

Almost every knife attack, even a failed one, is headline news in the UK national media and featured on the main TV evening news.

How would that work in the US with gun crime?

Yes, it is possible to kill several people with a knife, but it is far easier to kill multiple people with a gun (or guns). Most mass killers carry more than one gun. People using a knife can be (and are) tackled by members of the public. Without a gun, it is difficult to stop a man intent on killing randomly with a gun.

The US's problem with easy availability of guns would be very difficult to change. Even before the changed gun laws in the UK, the number of deaths by gun was low.

Section 2 of the Criminal Code of Canada defines weapon as any thing used or intended for use in causing even the threat of causing harm.

Could be a lamp.

It’s not the object, it’s the intent. Mens rea.

Any lawyer would know that.
And using a lamp to kill is more difficult than using an assault rifle.

Intent is required to kill..the weapon determines the extent of damage.

I could use a nuclear weapon or a book. Which would you believe I would choose if my intent was mass harm?

JFC Ogg, go learn a few things before you post shit like this again.

Shooting sprees aren't ignored. They make headline news and provide more fodder for bullshit discussions like this one. "Easy availability" of guns? Don't make me laugh at you. Getting a gun is one of the toughest things you can do in the US while trying to exercise an enumerated Right.

If it was tough, murderers would not be able to get an AR-15 at WalMart the same morning as their afternoon murder spree.

Harpy - YOU should learn a few things. Shooting sprees do not compare with attempted use of a knife.

Since the UK gun laws changed, there have been NO shooting sprees. Even before, they were less frequent than one a year. In the US?

Don't make me laugh at your ignorance.

Jesus Fucking Christ!

Dead is dead. The method isn't relevant UNLESS you have an agenda to fulfill.

Knifing, shooting, clubbing... dead is dead. Outlawing the TOOLS used changes nothing because eventually what you'll be reduced to is outlawing hands because even bare hands can kill.

It's not the tool, it's the person using the tool. Lock their asses up and throw away the key.
