Now Kosovo and Bosnia want to join NATO

You don't know the difference between religion and science do you? there is no back to nature movement worthy of talking about and most of those guys are conservatives anyway. The guys who think if the government ever got out of hand they would be fighting from the forests and mountains for as long as it took.

It's absolutely nothing like Hitler's rise to power. At the end of the day like way, way too many problems in the world you can blame that crap on Christianity.

Some of us like being able to breathe, fish, not get cancer. Be energy independent or as close an animal as exists.

There are two movements, though.
I belong to yours, but the other movement is shitty as.
Farmers in Australia and France are not allowed to develop chunks of their land. Fair enough, but they are not being compensated by the State, the same State that printed money to bail out big businesses during covid, businesses that are now trillions richer.

lol good one.

I had in mind the extreme, how radical climate change activists see us humanity as this vermin which destroyed the planet.
And how I was seeing shades of Hitler's young army in Greta Thunberg,
when she was contorting her face in pain laced with hate
I've never seen any such sign in Thunberg, and you don't need to be a misanthropic "hard green" to be concerned about climate change.

If we're going to THAT extreme we might as well say that athletes and rocket scientists are the same. Both work like hell to get where they are. I'm neither but if I were more patient I'd be with the Rocket Scientists.

I don't know enough about the situation specifically in Australia and France and I find it interesting that really anybody does. You're not the same countries in anyway. What exactly is stopping you guys from at least starting with warehouses must have solar panels. Do either of you get enough rough weather that you'd be constantly spending more repearing it? Waves generate power too. American cars can't even be sold in Europe because we don't meet the emission standards. Well the ones we sell here we can't sell there. I've never looked into Australia.

I'm not gonna talk too much about the money "printed" to pay for Covid. Mostly because the debt matters so little that it was like 2010 when the UK finished paying off World War Fucking Two. I think if people were gonna come for debts. . .well the last of the people who paid for that (and most of the people who fought in that) have been dead for a while. Government debt isn't really the same as you and me debt. Even you and me dead only matters because of how broke we fucking are. 400k in debt for me would be horrendous (and I'd have to move to some empty state to get a price that low.) Oprah can flush ten million down the toilet and and laugh. (To be fair I know she has at least one girls school she funds in Africa. I'd rather it here and maybe she does stuff here to. Its hard to keep track of what Celebs do when they forget to go on all the talk shows and brag.

Finland and Sweden (Finland in particular) are interesting, eh?
I only knew about Sweden's neutrality from movies.

But wasn't Finland more genuine in saying that neutrality was for self-preservation?

There's even a concept in geopolitics called "finlandization" describing a nominally suveineirin country that is nevertheless very limited in foreign policy and has to constantly weigh a certain larger player's opinion above self interest.

However controversial such was, this admittedly overcautious semi-dependat politics stance arguably allowed Finland to retain independence and democratic society internally. Even in those times they nevertheless constantly prepared for total defense. (Btw, Finland's building code demands bomb shelter for any residence, for example.) And somehow they built highly prized education system and high living standard.

Freed by the dissolution of USSR, Finland immediately started rearming to NATO standards. Now, their military is HUGE by European standards, and armed to the teeth, and they're currently in the middle of yet another round of rearming. In NATO context they will become security provider not a client. They still want to join... nuclear umbrella and all, and a bit of very graphic Russian scare.

Althoug currently... it's actually hilarious. Finland's not only posed to successfully defend itself in case of acute military threat from Russia, if they were so inclined, right now, they could probably easily take back their once lost territories...

From six Russian divisions permanently on the long forest border with Finland four are deployed to war in Ukraine in their entirety, one is already depleted refitting two of the warring, and the last have their heavy artillery taken to war. Now, with the talk about imminent joining of NATO by Finland, Russians, scrambling to reinforce those residual forces, have sent a coastal defense battalion in land artillery role. Shows how desperate they are. Russia has no battle ready reserves besides the elite Pskov's Airborne who are still intact only because they refused to deploy to Ukraine.

Well, there's a bit more than that in Pskov, that group still accounts to some 60k pairs of boots, but won't be going anywhere, just in case...

Baltic countries,

On the other hand, I feel that you guys risk being too radical at times.

Small puppies like to yap a lot. Hiding under the couch... Don't think we can't hurt someone's heels though. What to do, Russia, our misbehaving wayward province, is still our responsibility.

What, Karelia?

Say, what about Austria? They joined the EU in 1995 but they still haven't joined NATO.

The Finnish newspaper Iltalehti said Monday that the Swedish government wants "a common date for the publication of NATO applications" and mentions the week of May 16. Sweden’s Expressen tabloid said it had confirmed the plan through sources in its government. Both countries have long cooperated with NATO on defense issues, and the U.S. supports their memberships. Finland shares an 830-mile border with Russia.

putin, eat your heart out. your own horrific actions will see NATO be right against your gates.

At this rate, Switzerland will join NATO. And they're so neutral they only joined the UN in 2002.

That whole thing about Russia not wanting nukes in their backyard was the stupidest take.

Makes no difference in practice. They can nuke us from Moscow. They also have SSBNs off our coast at all times. And SSNs with nuclear capable cruise missiles. Geography only matters to scare the uninformed.

good luck with that.

Not only that they generously supplied 'Abu Ahsad' knife wielders in Germany and NW Europe,

but they also destroyed more than 200 Christian Orthodox churches in less than a decade.

The UK has signed mutual defence agreements with Finland and Sweden, all promising to help each other if invaded (by Russia). That covers the situation up to a formal entry to NATO. The UK already has troops, tanks and aircraft stationed in Finland and Sweden.

Climate change is a serious problem. The forest fires are starting early this year.

Finland is poking the tiger...

I wonder if Vlad is chewing the carpet.
The Finnish Premier said that if Putin is upset he should look in a mirror. He caused countries to want to join NATO. It is ONLY his fault.
