Four and a Half Years Ago Today

Four and a half years ago today-October 20, 2005; 1 month after my 28th birthday-was the last time I had sex. When people hear that or read it here when I post it, usually in huge red letters with the word "fuck" somewhere around, I'm asked if it was a choice that I made. To answer the question: Yes, it is a choice; but no, not a choice of my own making. "How can that be?" you ask. The answer is simple, "I do not believe in having sex without love."

A little explanation on how I came to feel this way. When I was at college at a small Nazarene liberal arts university, here in the Midwest, chapel was mandatory. My final semester there, I didn't graduate, I missed every chapel but this one. I don't remember the speaker's name or anything about him, but I remember what he said. Not exactly what he said, this was nearly 12 years ago, but the basic idea. Sex takes a very emotional toll on a person; and each time we have sex, we give that person a piece of our soul. It we're in a love, we get that piece of our soul back from the other person; but if there's no love, that piece of our soul is lost. The soul isn't infinite; and what happens when we give ourselves completely away to people we don't love. To me that was very powerful. The most meaningful thing I have ever learned. I believe what he said. Although I am no longer religious, this has stuck with me.

How is this not a choice of my own making? This is the town where I live.

I like to think that I'm very open minded. I understand that one person's kinks are not my own; and vice versa. The fun is working those through. There are boundaries that even in role playing I am not comfortable crossing-I don't need or want a daddy/uncle/brother or any other male relative; and if you put something around my neck, I'm going to tell you no and I expect you to listen. Other than that, I'm pretty go with the flow so far. I think. You'll have to ask anyone I've played with to really answer that.

Thanks, PB. I actually don't feel I have a lot of tension anymore. I've become a very relaxed, peaceful, blissful person as of late. I'd like to get laid, but I'm not going to explode if I don't.
