Hmmm...I'm not sure this belongs on this board, but it was suggested I try posting here also, so here goes. I'm pregnant, due in 9 weeks and am looking for a long term birth control. I have done research on Norplant, and am considering it as my top option. I don't want to get my tubes tied, I'm not sure the doctor would do it anyways since I'm still fairly young. Is there anyone here with any personal experience on Norplant, good or bad?

Oh good, I'm glad you posted it here. Don't worry about it not "belonging" here. As far as I'm concerned, health belong anywhere that you may get a response. :rose:

Thank you, although it looks as though it may get buried quickly here.

I put a rather lengthy response on the How To board.. noticed it here.. Good idea to get other input.

Again.. Good Luck!!

Bumping to the top.

I've been on the pill since I was 14. And now off of it for a year. So I'd be interested in other people's input, too.

I adore your quote sorta..

I put some input on the How To board.. be warned.. it wasn't a pleasant experience for me.. Norplant that is  .

I've heard that they're taking Norplant off the market.
Many times its difficult taking out the thingamajigs they
put in your arm.......etc etc. etc.........

I suggest Depo-Provera......... you get those injections
every 3 months I believe.

Good luck!

Thanks CC, I will go read that. I appreciate it.

And Tigerjen, Yikes! I've actually been think more along the lines of the Depo shots anyway. I've heard that for some lucky women this eliminates their menstrations altogether, but I'm not sure if that's true.

Personally, call me paranoid, but I just don't like the idea of anything implanted into my body.
