Non-celebrity characters? Say, from a very popular MMORPG?

Are you allowed to mention locations and such of video games in your stories? I ask this because I have written an Everquest fantasy, and it wouldn't be quite the same without the place-names and whatnot.....thx for any help on this.

Let me get this straight. You are writing a story set in the Everquest world? I'd say go ahead and write it. We have fanfic stories here from a wide selection of fictional wordls. That your story is set in the universe of a computer game intest of a book or film is really no difference. Especially if your characters are not central figures in the game itself. It might end in the Celebrity category, but you should have no trouble getting it onto the site.

Thx

Thx....I just wondered if Sony would have any legal right to drop on me like a ton of bricks, but I guess not.:)

That's a whole different question. :D

Well, you know, they might. Just as many tv-networks and other powerful ip owners might regarding other stories here (owners of the Star Trek, Middle Earth, Star Wars, Buffy and other 'trademarks'). But the worst thing if posted on Lit would be a cease and desist note to Laurel, since it's her site and her call to publish or reject it. And then I guess your story would be removed.

I think Sony should be delighted if there was an Everquest-story posted at Lit. Think: Free advertising!

I don't think Sony would even know if anyone posted a story about one of their video game worlds, I don't think any of the fan fiction celebrities and others know they are on here so post away!

Happy posting
