But I bet they're laughing at us.

Between the nightclub in Chicago, the one in Rhode Island, and now this Staten Island oil fire, we're doing a better job on our soft targets than they ever could.

Teddy there, barely

You are starting to sound like BUSYBODY......Bleech....:eek:

Im gonna call you BUSYBEAR!!

Please don't.

I'm insinuating nothing except that it's been one very tragically odd week, and that coincidentally, it comes at a time when we're supposed to be on high alert for a terrorist attack.

Now there's been another fire, at a recycling plant in San Diego.

TB4p

Said nightclub in Chi-town....Two girls started a fight and the bouncers sprayed mace in an enclosed space, fire exits blocked panic errupted...

Said club in Warwick....has been hairband from the eighties decides to put pyrotecnics in the show, stage catches fire panic errupted....

Said Staten Island refiney fire...a barge carrying heating oil was refueling propane, sparks being a risk in the procedure caused an explosion setting the whole thing ablaze...

Bad judgement, yes.

Terrorism, no.

You're missing my point, badass. I know it's not terrorism. I never suspected for a moment that it was terrorism in any of the cases. Hell, in Rhode Island and Staten Island, they have what happened on video.

I'm not insinuating that the things that have happened are too connected to be coincidental.

I'm just saying it's one tragically crazy week. Kind of like when I posted that the Apollo 1 disaster was on January 27 (1967), the Challenger explosion was on January 28 (1986), and the Columbia breakup was on February 1 (2003). It's just eerily strange, that's all.

And no busybody, I'm not paranoid, even though you push the boundaries of "paranoia" so far that normal paranoia looks tame by comparison. My apartment is duct-tape free and I don't hunker down in daily dread of what calamity tomorrow might bring.

But this week has been eerie in its occasions of bad news. That's all I'm saying.

Terrorists don't laugh a whole lot. They're too pissed. Ultimately a few fires does nothing to promote their cause, so they have no reason to care.

It is eeriely sad though.

They managed to get out of a club in Minneapolis which caught fire the night before, btw. It's a freaken epidemic. The Fine Line will be closed for a month or more for repair.

It is premature to say not...

It may not be the spectacular event everyone hopes for, but a single individual causing an explosion is a terrorist action. (they haven't completed the investigation) There was a Islamic fuck that shot the El Al employees at LAX, and the brainiacs declared it a non terrorist act. Hmmmm. It could have just as easily been a dirty bomb, all you had to do is dump a 55 gal drum of radioactive material in the tank, and "boom," instant catastrophe.
We are at war, and sabotage and distruption is the norm.

Who's to say the trampling in Chicago wasn't terrorism?

Who's to say the exploding barge wasn't terrorism?

Who's to say the pyro guy at that Whitehead concert wasn't a terrorist?

Like you said...that's a lot of death and destruction for one week on the eastern seabord....

When was the last time the US Government came clean about anything?

All of a sudden the NASA independant panel says there was "extra foam" that fell off that nobody mentioned before....

Yeah, right. Extra foam. New Mach 20 Foam.

In a choice between choosing to believe the U.S. government or Lancaecstor, I choose the U.S. government.

In a choice between choosing to believe talking cheese or Lancecastor, I choose the talking cheese.

Guess you're left with believing your government then...

Q: Since when does the Mayor of NYC speak on behalf of the FBI?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NY mayor plays down terrorist attack speculation
New York mayor Michael Bloomberg says the FBI has found no indication that a huge explosion on a barge on Staten Island was a terrorist attack.
An important oil storage facility has been badly damaged by a huge fire which broke out after the explosion, sending a plume of thick black smoke more than two kilometres into the sky.
New York police say one man was killed in the blast, one was injured and another is missing.
Mr Bloomberg says both the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security looked into the blast and have found no suspicious evidence.
"What appears to have happened here was an industrial accident. There was a barge unloading four million gallons of gasoline and roughly halfway through the unloading process, for a reason which we do not yet know, there was a very powerful explosion."
how do you define terrorism?
just want to see if everyone really know what the fuck they r talking about
Hmmmm....
Oil = Gasoline = Import = Middle East = ?
Nah, no reason to assume bad things in these times!
No really....people outside the FBI don't speak on their behalf unless they're higher up the US intell food chain...right?
I wonder if there's shit going on that the Gov is covering up ....or to use a softer word.... "downplaying "......to prevent panic?
Weren't you a member of the cadre who bitched about the Orange Alert because it whipped up panic?
If this is all al-Qaeda's got — blowing up one oil barge, killing two, injuring one, and causing a temporary spike in oil prices — then there's absolutely no reason to panic.
If they hit a civilian target, like, say, a nightclub — now that would cause a panic.
No, I think people should be panicking and leaving NYC.
Like I said....who's to say they didn't spike the pyros in RI and spray the juice in Chicago?
If things progressed better and 120 people didn't die in those two incidents, then it'd just be arson, and we wouldn't be having this discussion.
Pretty slim chances for a good payoff there.
