There is some advantage to posting links or posting pics direct to the thread, if I knew how to do that. Sometimes the links don't work correctly but when they do, the pics can be bigger. It is a little more trouble to do, but when they come out right, the additional trouble is worth it.

I know you have told me that you don't and can't remove pics from the threads but the situation is now getting critical. Seems it's happening all over the Lit. site. Pictures are simply disappearing by the hundreds hours after they are posted. I have sent 2 emails to the webmaster now with no explanation. Can you give me ANY insight as to what is going on or how I could quickly get an answer?

My first question is are these your pictures or are they hotlinked from a copyright source? If these are your pictures I'll address Laurel and Manu, they usually reply to me fairly quickly.

Unless the photo is your personal property, then hotlinking a photo may not be allowed from the site it's coming from.

Laurel and manu can be forced to pay monetary damages in the form of lost bandwidth, or other copyright infringement and have lawsuits filed against them.
It may not seem like a big thing to the average internet user, but bandwidth can be very expensive to a hosting internet company and the site hosting the picture.

If it is a image they own and they are linking it from image shack or similar site, I suggest they resize it to upload as an attachment. They can better manage the file that way.

Has anyone noticed if Jennifer K has had any pictures of herself removed? If not, it seems that there is a major clean up of possible illegal pictures on the site happening.

After resizing them, I post them as attachments. They probably are copyrighted but since they are being offered as free samples, I don't see any harm is posting them here, since no commercial use is being made of them.

If you put bbefore and after the link they will show up as images in your message. However, websites tend to change the page those pictures are located on so you often get the dreaded red X after a few hours.... so you're better off downloading to your hard drive, then hosting them yourself on a image storage site.....

Thanks, though I am neither the photographer nor the model. You mean, if I download the links to my hard disk and them post them as: link they will be posted on the thread as pictures the way yours were? That sounds like the better way to do it.

Counsellor, I believe you have a valid point. Why would the internet industry giants scoff at free advertising when copyrights are not being infringed upon but rather posters are simply spreading the gospel word (where the hell has RevJ gotten to????). Halleluiah

As far as the copyright laws go, I don't really see any difference between posting an attachment or posting a pic directly on the thread. I think the latter gets better results, though, because I don't have to resize the pics. On the last one I posted, I would have had to shrink it by a third in order to upload it as an attachment.
