I wonder if the deletion process may be on a user basis. If that was the case, some of the heavy contributors on a thread such as this could be targeted. I'm involved in another technically similar website, although it has drastically different content, and we have had to do that as well.

We have been in situations where we were forced between limiting uploads or spending more money on hosting services. When you start to get to the upper end hosting services for a site such as thisthat has a very large amount of traffic it can get pretty pricey. In my situation, the growth of the site was so rapid that we had a hard time keeping up with the added demand and providing realiable, high-speed service for our members. Its an issue we are still dealing with.

It's kind of like filling a cup with water... the cup can only hold so much. If you keep pouring more water in the cup once its full, the water at the top is going to spill out first. Give it a try and see if this helps relieve your problem.

Yes My Dear, I sure can.... :kiss:

You go to User CP and there is a Miscellaneous Folder with a link to Attachments. If you open that file up it lists all of the images you have stored on the server. To delete items you just put a check in each box you want to remove then click on the delete button. Of course when you do that the image is removed from the messages you posted them in, and any follow up messages that have links to those images will be effected too. I'd start by removing images to threads that you don't post to anymore, thread that have long since been inactive, and very early posts in active and long threads.

If anyone has any questions don't hesitate to ask...

Well if it is cumulative that would explain why it's happening all over Lit. and not just to one person or one specific thread.

I just now checked my attachments. I have 700, taking up 28mb. I could easily delete most or all of them but it seems a shame to erase all those beautiful ladies. Of course, I would still have them on my HD. There are five attachments that were posted 11-17-05 and everything before then is probably intact also. Most that I have posted since then have been deleted.

There is a maximum upload of 100kb, or something for any one item. However, we can upload five items totaling much more than that. Maybe the 100kb maximum upload is being enforced for each post.
 
 
The attachement I posted slightly more than two hours ago is still there. I will continue the experiment. I am attaching two pics totaling 116.9kb. Let's see what happens to them.

At 3:27, they are both there.

Talk about a group that 'rises' to the occasion. FantasyMaster scored us a spectacular island with all the trimmings, BillDaddy-O, RevofLuv, Namron, BDawg and Abbey (just to name a few!) post luscious pictures, Mutt and Jim keep me rolling and ever entertained *grin* and BL is figuring out this galactic mystery for us. Oh ya, and THIS Jennifer and the OTHER Jennifer tease and tantalize.

Pete, Julie and Link – look OUT! (you’re going to have to be ummmmm….seasoned to get that one kids *giggle*

OK, the attachment from 11:44 yesterday AM is gone and so are the attachments from two hours later. These were all strictly hard core photos so maybe that is the criterion of what to delete. I will try mixing some pics here:

Three hours later, they are still here.
Five hours after posting, they are still there.
