Newbie Support Forum

Halleluia! A newbie haven.

Dove in at the deep end, registered and submitted a story on the advice of a friend, and have been looking for a safe place to learn the rules ever since! ;)

No questions right now, mostly I'm learning from reading other peoples'....just glad to know there's somewhere to put them.

Hi gingerv, Just-Legal is our expert but she is probably asleepin right now, welcome.

Hello bbkradwell and GingerV! If you have any questions, ask away, either I or Lisa or one of the other AH Volunteers (read: conscripts) will answer :)

*eyes Lisa* I was not asleep. Ignore the qwerty imprint on my forehead...

Lisa - I see you managed it! Durn it. I wanted to be the html pro :)

*makes Lisa her Cheif Advisor*

Means you get to run the show when I go on holiday

Doormouse and Mat helped me in the middle of the night while you was supposedly not asleepin. But thanks. And thanks for the promotion, but I dunno, seems like I ask a lot of questions here. Maybe I could just take messages and tell everybody you are in an important meeting or something.

Ehehe, not that I'm going on holiday for a while, but you could tell them the truth.

I'm baking my raisins

Hi Lisa - I'm definitely a newbie. I registered tonight although I have been looking at this place for a few weeks and reading stories much longer. I'm not really sure what I am looking for but I know sex is a big part of it. I've always thought I might want to write as well. I'm 19, bisexual, very shy and am more than willing to learn and experiment. Please let me know if there is anything I should be exploring or doing differently. Thank you.

Hi Puffynsweet! I'm Helen AKA Just-Legal, your friendly, neighbourhood newbie guide.

Feel free to have a wander around the AH, and the Boards in general. A word of advice though... the General Board can get a little... strange.

Writing questions or just general "how-does-lit-work" is welcome in this forum, as well as general hellos. No waterbombs please, and keep your hands inside the ride at all times.

Hi Cloudy!!

Puffynsweet if you want some good threads to visit or something just PM me and ask. If you need help with anything else post it here and Helen/Just-Legal will answer or tell you where you can get an answer. Just pop in threads and talk, most people are nice to newbies.

Hope you're still having fun Puffy, you seem to be fitting in just fine so far! :D

I suppose I still look at myself as a newbie, I tend to flit around the fringes a bit!

Plus I've been having no luck finding an avatar I like!

OK, I've got one.

I know, or at least can figure out, how to put a link to my story in my signature. But it looks all nasty and technical with it's slashes and random numbers. The esthetic part of me wants a nice, neat, "Ginger's first story" link.

So how on earth do I do that?

AND while I'm at it. I screwed up. Didn't come here and read before posting, and I think part of the reason my poor darling is being largely ignored is that the description...errrr....sucks. I know I can resubmit edited text. Is it possible to resubmit an edited description? Or do I just take this one as a learning experience and move on.

Thanks so much in advance! It really is a relief to have someplace I can let my ignorance show.

Hi guys - its really good to know there is a thread like this - having just read some of the posts a few of my newbie questions have been answered so thanks! I will probably be back though!

GingerV, I don't know this well cause they just helped me with it, I will copy and paste it here and then of course you will have to change it to either the address for all your stories, or the address for the particular story. And change Lisa'a stories to gingers.

Lemme see.

Just bumping this thread to the top of the page so it wont disapear for those needing help...

Peeking?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but it's starting to bug me. I submitted a story that got rejected. Twice. Most recently On monday. At that point, I SWEAR it said there had been 9 views. I looked at it twice to see the reasons for rejection, and then again to make sur eI wasn't crazy. So this morning, I presume it was at 11 views.

It's now at 13.

Maybe I'm crazy, maybe I've been poking at that sore tooth more often than I thought. Maybe I've been editing in my sleep. Maybe my other half is snooping around my computer looking for new stories (he says not).

But the only other people with access to the story at the minute are the powers that be, right? do they ever peek back at a story AFTER they've rejected it? Or am I just quietly losing what's left of my mind.

G

It would have been at 12 because you looked at it twice to read the reasons, then again to make sure you "weren't crazy".

Then you looked at it again to check the views, as far as I can gather, so 13 :)

Why was it rejected, if you don't mind me asking.
