Newbie Support Forum

You might want to start a thread like this in the feedback forum. Allot of real newbies pop up all the time over there.

The Authors forum is very nice but might seem a little intimidating for someone who just ocasionaly checks the boards and doesn't know the veterans so feels out of place.

This is true... I think we need a universal Newbie Support Forum.

Gods, if I start one over there, I'll probably get, well, if you go to such and such a forum...

Why not stick to one experiment at the time?
See how this one goes first. People could always link to here, couldn't they?

Helen -

Just a thought, but it'd probably be a big help to anyone new if you put a link in your sig to this thread. That way, no matter which forum here you posted on, there'd be a link for the virgins and newbies to follow.

The score of your own story is listed in the Submissions page.

And the score of any other story is listed in brackets on its listing next to the author's name, on the category page. For example:

Submitted by Just-Legal (4.44) << This is the score

How can you find out the score of a story?

I only see the scores of the the top list scores.

Mr. Lee, sir?

If you take a look at any category, you see the score of a story after the title. I'd love to show you, but the board has been very difficult to navigate all day. I can't log in to the members area and I can't get into the index either.

I'll have a try tomorrow, if nobody else has shown you by then.

Welcome, by the way. Have fun.

Oh, the score will only show if a story has more than 10 votes.

:D

I promised to show you. Right behind the name of the author is the score.

There are more parts written by now, so if you want to know a bit more about the fruitcakes living here, do take a look.

Hello Lisa! Hello Newbies! Don't be afraid, come on in and ask a question, I'm sure either myself or one of my volunteers (who keep appearing *grins*) will be able to help.

*hugs to all who've pitched in so far, its appreciated!!*

Thank you Helen and Black Tulip.

Story search by author and/or title
click on category, then alphabetical within category by title.

I wonder why story search doesn't list scores?

Thanks

Couple of things.

Putting in Links. As I understand it links are not allowed in stories. Links in posts to forums shouldn't be to pay sites (Laurel and Manu will want a share otherwise)

Copyright. At Lit you retain sole copyright and can do whatever you like with your stories. If the form you signed paid you to simply post at that site you still retain sole rights and can do what you like with your story.

Thanks gauche, that did go into a little more. I had asked that site and just recieved a reply that they only wanted to pay for the right to post it. I did look in the FAQ's before asking here but I didn't see that covered, the assistance was appreciated.

This is an excellent thread.

Advice to other 'newbies': Post freely. If you step on any 'old hands' toes you will get a polite reply to guide you. If you step on a 'Prima donna's toes, you will get loads of shit from her and her minions. HOWEVER, you will get good support from the decent 'regulars' - of which there are a majority.

After a few posts you soon learn which members to respect , which to ignore :p - and if you feel like it - which to wind up:devil::D

One sure thing - you can have fun, make friends, learn, and get good advice and help on here.

(Above added to bump the thread above other bumped crap:devil: :p :D )

Usually when they start asking intelligent questions like this, and that lil H for hot beside one of your stories is a good sign also. You need an AV now that you have over a hundred posts. If you have a pic that you want reduced I or a lot of others will be happy to fix it up for you.
Could someone explain to me HOW to post an AV? I've been trying to do it for months, now; to no avail!

Lemme see, how did I do that. You click control panel and edit options. Then its down there at the bottom of the page. And it can only be 120 by 120 which I didn't know how to do at the time is why my avatar is all scrunched up and stuff. If you have a pic you want to use I can make it the right size. Just post it and I will post it back usable.
I am afraid to re-do mine.

Just-Legal or anybody who knows, after you answer that above question better I have one.
I tried to put the link to my stories in my sig line and fusterclucked it. It came up, the address was there but it was a dead link, ya know when ya click it nothing happened. What did I do wrong? I was freakin out and thought I messed everything up and deleted it. Then I was afraid to try it again.
Can you like say it step by step so I can print it up and read it while I do it. I never even got close to the part where you name it like "my stories" or something. I would appreciate any help.

Me, too

As for the when is a newbie not a newbie question it's actually pretty difficult... I've been a member here for nearly four years, but I stayed away from the boards until about a year ago, so I may have had (and still have) a low post count, but I wasn't a LIT newbie.
Maybe we need two types - LIT Newbies and FORUM Newbies? *smile*

I am in the same boat, Helen.
I was a Lit. "virgin" for so long that I just got sick of it and posted, like, a hundred posts in one month!
OK, so some of you do 100 in a day but I have a life (or, at least, I've convinced myself that I have a life, even though I'm only kidding myself.)
Anyway, 1,000 posts seems a bit astronomical to me. It might as well be a million for that matter... It may take me that many years to reach a thousand, for cripes sake!
In the meantime, however, I have mentored a few writers, here @ Literotica. I'm even in a few of their stories, myself! *He said, beaming with pride!*
My stories are like my children. And the stories that I've helped the others with are like step-children that I've raised since infancy. So I, too, am nowhere near a "newbie" here!

Thank you, Lisa.
Here's the picture---
(I'd like to use the LEFT side of it- the part with the dog!)
Again, your help is SO very appreciated.

Huh? Funky pic, my system said it was a gif but it was dead. I did it but you need a good clear pic to start with. if you can't see what it is before you size it it won't show up decent. You couldn't even tell what it was. Here is a dog I had that you can use if you want or post a different pic.

Halleluia! A newbie haven.

Dove in at the deep end, registered and submitted a story on the advice of a friend, and have been looking for a safe place to learn the rules ever since! ;)

No questions right now, mostly I'm learning from reading other peoples'....just glad to know there's somewhere to put them.
