Back from a hot and sticky holiday in Spain. Have I missed much?
Welcome back sweet, I hope you had a lovely time! Did you miss the 40C in Blighty while you were in sunny Spain?

As mentioned, the biggest thing you missed was your fantastic ladies team booting us out of the Euros and the lovely William breaking protocol by hugging your team capital after their victory.

No one had started a nuclear war yet, so theres that I suppose too.

Hi to the rest of you lovely Tommies too 😘

I was thinking of the Doner Kebab with lashings of chillis sauce. I’m from the south. Curry sauce should only be served with rice!
My apologies, Charles. I too am a southerner. And I've never eaten Doner Kebab. But I did used to work with a chap who, during his varsity days, worked part time at a certain Northern brewery. It had a lasting effect on him. Several years later, he still insisted that cod should only be eaten with curry sauce and a glass of Newkie Brown. :)

hard to get actual sausages here, too... the closest they have are 'brats' and they are limited in variety. hot days like these i do miss a nice chilled browse along the sausage aisle of Asda. god, loved me a kebab now and again, with garlic sauce and all the salad trimmings

the best curry sauce i had was from the local Chinese shop and was perfect to dip their chips into.

over here, 'fries' are most often covered with a ton of stuff... sauces, cheese, bits and bobs, which leads to soggy chips. blech. NEVER had anything like a proper chip shop chip in 5 years in the US :(

I never knew there was sausage aisle in Asda..I'm fairly sure my local Co-op never had one.

A man after my own heart... a doner kebab on a Saturday night. then the last bus home and the kebab crust on a Sunday morning before going to club at 11am for killer darts and pool.

Newkie Brown....aka a bottle of dog!

Oh the chewy ones with the currants inside? I liked those too 😍
I remember when I was little staying at a family friends house while my Mum was away and they gave me some kinda biscuit with currants in. I picked out the currants and dropped them over the bedhead. I wonder if they ever found them?! 😁 I like currants now

Definitely Garibaldi's...they were popular in the 70"s 🌹

Talking about if they ever found them...we had a family holiday abroad in Berwick Scotland twice in a row to a 'farmhouse' and the bluebottle fly l caught was still in the drawer the next year.

Ok...but what biscuits do you miss?
In the early 50s, my family moved to Gibraltar.

When we left, the UK still had some rationing.

When we returned, the first advertisements I saw on buses were for Viscount Biscuits, impossible during rationing.

Every time I see a Viscount biscuit pack, I am reminded of rationing, NO rationing in Gibraltar and returning to a much changed UK.

But I don't really like Viscount Biscuits...

never was keen on wafer biscuits, lemon puffs, garibaldis and definitely not fig rolls. H loves his fig rolls.

i do like a good custard cream or a bourbon *nods*

but chocolate hobnobs=the best ever.

How can you not like Lemon puffs, my favourite, I buy them in bulk if I see them in the shops.

I concur about the hobnobs, definitely the best. Do you have a preference, milk or dark chocolate?
