New Computer Advice...Please

Dell...get a Dell
(now I have that annoying as hell Steve guy in my head)

I am pretty happy with mine... I got the Dimension 4550 less than two months ago...and upgraded the CD Rom with a DVD/CD-R.... and I paid less than 1400 for it.

What made you decide to go with a Dell?

I guess it wasn't those commercials.:D

Friends who had Dells..... they never seemed to have as much problems as I had with my Compaq and then my HP. With my Compaq....it seemed to always want to freeze up or go REALLY slow all the time no matter how many times I defrag'd it... and my HP just hated my guts and didn't want to do what I wanted it to.

And they have excellent Customer Service. No runarounds.

Also, you might consider going with cable or DSL. If you do you will never willingly go back to dial-up.

I wish those were options. Unfortunately, where I live they're never going to be.

Thanks, B:kiss:

I had my Compaq six months and they had to replace the hard drive. It has always seemed slow to me and, yes, the freezing up thing, too. I keep my hard drive clean and everything else where it's suppose to be.

I guess I just want a bigger, better toy.:D

That's too bad. Broadband's what keeps my old rebuilt girl fast as any one. The only thing she's slow about is booting up.

With two grand you could probably get a real nice laptop if you wanted.

Thanks for feeling my pain.

I can't download music because it takes HOURS for one song. My sister has cable and it takes only minutes. She rubs it in to me all the time..lol.

Morning, JL:rose:

Just imagine.....maybe even something with remote access.

Hehehe.

I've often thought it would be fun to bring the pc into the tub instead of a magazine.

the choice is simple. Forget everything you know about Bill Gates and his evil Windows empire and go with one named after a fruit.

Cable is good. Quick and clear. I couldn't go back to dial up.

I have a Dell that we've had for a little over 4 years and it's been a wonderful computer. I'm just NOW having a few minor problems with it. I still want a new one just cuz I want a bigger and better toy too! ;) I wouldn't hesitate to get another Dell personally. Good luck on your computer shopping!

Did you say something?

Good morning to you Doll! And, I know what you mean about computer lust! I've been none-too-subtle about my desire for a new computer, compelete with pouting.

Why am I not surprised you recommended "fruit"?:D

The slowest part of your computer is your modem, or how you connect to the Internet. Getting a new PC won't speed that up much, if at all. On the other hand we always need a new computer!

Brand - Dell Dell Dell Dell

I should start tallying the votes here. Dell vs Everything else.

Thanks, love.

$2,000 bucks is a hell of a lot of money to spend on what you'll be using it for. You can spend a lot less than half that and get want you want.

I know what you want.
