I get the distinction. To me "the left" is the progressives, the insane faction of democrats that don't represent what moderate democrats are like.

The problem is that the standard dems have kowtowed to these lunatics to the point many people think the left is just simply the left. When the senator from Mass expressed his concern about men being in his daughter's sports, its a legit concern expressed by a parent, but he was immediately attacked and shouted down because god forbid they defy the morons like AOC and her ilk. So, until they decide to stand their ground and quell the dipshits, they will be assocaited with them.

Now, on the other hand if I said "Don't call all Republicans Magas or the 'right" for the same reasons, I'm sure he OP and his like minded kind will have a very different tone and squeal "No, that's only true for us, reeeeeee"
