Hey, im new to Lit so bare with me.

I am too a proud nerd/dork/geek girl. I have always been that girl ever since elementary school. But I was the one that would defend myself by beating up those who were popular and poked fun of me. I always dressed weird. Never really matched, most of the time wore mens clothing. (No im not a lesbian). And I love sci fi movies and am big into computers. Majoring in Computer Graphics and Animation. I do wear glasses, have beenwering them for 12 years now. Im 20 now and people tell me all the time that I am strange and weird and even been told I talk too much. So glad that there are tons of other female geeks out there. I think guys get intimidated by us too. They don't want someone smarter than themself, thats why they have to go out with ditzy girls. They know they can take advantage of them, and they won't even know it. Kind of sucks though, seeing all these guys and some won't even look your way. At the same time, most of them I wouldn't even want to date.

Out of all the female geeks, who dated in High School and went to Senior prom? I never dated, the guys were too immature, and didn't go to prom. The whole idea of prom queen grossed me out, too much of a popularity contest. Not into that.
Glad I be among fellow geeks!!!!

Welcome

Be strong, hang in there. I've lived in a few places and I think N. Am is one of the hardest places to live if you want to be intellectual. If you try to have a conversation at a party on that level, you often turn off the other person--have you noticed that? Also, perhaps because of movies etc, people have a strong pre-conception about what a computer geek is really like.

Enjoy you mind and body. Be conficent. Wear sexy lingerie

I say, you go girls! Be smart! And don't let us get away with any bullshit. [/B]

Related to something on another thread again--why did she have to wait until some guy asked her out? I think another attraction of nerdy chicks is that, assuming they have the self-confidence to be proud of the 'nerd' label, they tend to just screw convention and ask out whatever guy they find interesting. Which may explain the high concentration of nerdy chicks on literotica--they know what they want and they aren't afraid to talk about it.

By the way, I think that you meant to write 'date' instead of 'sate'--or was that a Freudian slip?

No, I am just a crappy typist! She grew up in a strict Baptist home, and some of her reluctance to be forward was as a result of that.

nerd memories

I came back to read this thread again, and I feel like a kid in a candy store with all these smart women around! I don't know how many of you have seen the cartoon "Daria", but every girl I had a crush on in high school was just like her, heh.

This is kinda odd, but have any of you ever had an intellectual pursuit become foreplay? I used to date a girl that was literally brilliant, and we always used to play Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit and things like that together because we were both so competitive and enjoyed being smart. When she would make an obscure word for lots of points, it almost felt to me like it would feel if she started to do a striptease. And the time she became the first person to beat me at Scrabble, I practically jumped her on the spot! It's an amazing connection when you each understand that you've found someone who thinks like you do and enjoys a little rivalry =)

I am due to have a baby in mid-December, but I already asked for the weekend of the 21st as the inducition date so I can go see Two Towers before I have the baby.

I still think the sexiest thing any woman can have is something significant between the ears.

I was always "just friends" with the guys in school as well. They liked it because I could make jokes and talk about sports as well as they could, but they always went for the cheerleader types when it came to dating.

I was a band geek, too! I was drum major my senior year in high school. I still play with the local community band.

And whoever said playing board games can be stimulating, I certainly agree. Knowing your competitor can keep up with you during a Trivial Pursuit game starts to make you wonder if he can keep up with you in bed, too.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everybody! :rose:

Just had an interesting image of you with glasses in a cheerleader outfit playing the drums...may I offer another instrument for your play? :D

LOL, geekette, you've got queen geek status in my book

My friend works as a projectionist at a local theater here, trying to organize an opening, or even pre-opening, veiwing with a banquet medieval type dinner served before the showing... Guess that makes us busy geeks :)

Me too, Me too

Count me in... I'm a nerd from way back.

I've always loved being a nerd.

I usually have 3-4 books going at one time. Watching/reading sci-fi & fantasy are two of my favorite things. I can watch Discovery Channel, TLC and History Channel all weekend and never get bored. I may live in Arizona, but I never see the sun - I like my pale complextion, thank you. I work on a computer all day and then come home and play on one for a few more hours.

Nerd, yes I am!!! And proud of it.

Well, that is an open invitation. I propose a survey --in the name of science

Hypothesis: Your own undergarmet preferences are similar to those of the general "nerdy" girl population.

Study design:
a) Find a population of women who want to talk higher theories of some sort, and who don't dress like a model
b) Inform them of the study goals (so as not to get the observer (me) arrested)
c) Ask if they would mind opening their top for a visual inspection
d) Undertake a tactical inspection for softness of material
e) Divide groups into plain lumpy white back closing bras vs all other varients

Bin the data into the two groups and determine which population is the largest.

Hows that sound?
;)

I think it sounds... very... scientific. :D lol

Although I happen to think it would be slightly more interesting if you took out the part about telling them of the study goals... and I'll stand by and watch you conduct the experiment. Don't worry, I've heard that the sting of a good slap in the face doesn't last TOO long. ;)

Actually, I really do think that'd be an interesting study. I might take a survey of my friends one of these days or somethin'.

Re: Re: Re: Nerds

My wife told me that in High School she would deliberately act ditzy and dumb so guys she wanted to sate would ask her out. But by the time she was at UT she thought, "They can kiss my ass if I am too smart for them." I was shocked to know that a girl would act dumb to date a guy. I have no intrest in a pair of tits that talk. I want a woman smarter than me, to challenge me in all areas. A good relationship should be mutually challenging intellectually, sexually, emotionally, spiritually and several other "ally's". Otherwise they get boring, why do you think the divorce rate is over 50%? Sex only gets you so far!
[/B]

AMEN, SISTAH!!! AND BROTHA!!! (The first amen is for your wife, and hallelujah that she came to that conclusion in time to marry you instead of some dumb ox!) I know that any man I date seriously is going to be STIMULATED by my intelligence and passion for life - not intimidated. And the guy I marry is going to be just as stimulating to me, because I don't plan on staying the same my whole life. I plan on constantly learning, growing, and expanding my knowledge until I die! :) If I reach my goals, I should die somewhere around the age of ninety of spontaneous combustion of the brain, from all the activity causing so much heat. :D
The other likely cause of death is also spontaneous combustion, only this time from all the activity generating heat... with my husband. :p (No, I'm not married yet. :p)
I used to actually BE a ditz. Well, I was very intelligent (in all the accelerated programs in school) but at the same time, soooo dumb when it came to common sense! lol Thankfully, that's changed. :)

Oh my gosh, I think I'm in love! Well... ok... at the very least, I've fallen into a big ole pile of lust. ;) Quiet, Daria was always my hero... well, second only to Dave Barry. And I wish you lived close by so I could challenge you to a 'duel'... What you said about the Scrabble being like a strip tease reminded me of something I've always wanted to try... Strip checkers! Or Scrabble, or Trivial Pursuit, or my favorite game, Huggermugger! I'm such a huge fan of games, all kinds, and that would add a whole new dimension to them that could raise the stakes (not just for breakfa- er, pride anymore) and make it a little more appealing to lose the game. :)

I know I'm just now posting a ton of stuff, and that I'm responding to some older posts, but I'm just catching up on what I missed. I have a hard time not saying what I think as I read each post. I'll try harder to control myself in the future. :p

So um... lemme see. Welcome and hiya to Sarcasm, Green-eyed Goddess, DeadGirl, Redathena, OldestMotive (you might not be new to the thread, but I haven't seen you on here) and anyone else I might've missed! :) I'm Mandie, and I'll be your waitre- oh wait. Never mind.

Congrats to you, Geekette, on your pregnancy! I'm so jealous!

For the first time since I discovered this thread, I've felt a little outta place with all the sci-fi talk, as I actually not only am not a fan, I almost despise most sci-fi and fantasy. I know, I know... I probably just lost about ten thousand points for most of you on the sex-o-meter, but I can't help it! I've tried to like it, honest I have! But I'm definitely tolerant, and have adored several men who were big fans. That counts for something, right? :(

In answer to Sarcasm's question: I haven't dated much, in high school or now, but that's mostly because I've always been very picky (not a snob, just have high standards) and when I got sick with cancer, it kinda interfered with some of the normal 'growing up' stuff that a lotta people go through. (For those of you who might've noticed the very little-girlish quality that I have about me at times, that may explain it some! lol) I doubt I would've dated much even if I hadn't gone through that, though. Heck, I used to be terrified of men! lol

Boy, I think I've taken up more than my share of space on the board for the next month or so, so I'll shut up now for a while and just kick back and read what y'all have to say.

Mandie  muuuuah!

(actually, I lied - I'm sure I'll be posting again soon, as I haven't even finished catching up on the new messages!!! lol)
