Nerds?

I am so glad to see talk of comics and comics-based movies. But I have kind of purposely stayed away from the DCEU, and trailers, for many of the reasons stated above.

I am a huge Marvel fan, from reading Spider-man in the 70's, to getting into the X-Men in the 90's. When Marvel started doing movies, it was a huge gamble. Blade was a little movie, that did well. X-Men blew people out of the water. Spider-man was just so f***ing awesome. But there were no guarantees. FF was luke warm. X3 and Spider-man3 were....ok, but could have been so much better. And then came IM; a huge risk, even with an all star cast. But there was a plan. IM led to Incredible Hulk, which lead to Thor, which lead to IM 2, then Cap, and finally Avengers. Then came Phase 2, which saw IM3, Guardians, Cap: WS, Thor 2, Ant-man, Avengers 2, Cap:CW. And then the next wave:Dr. Strange, Black Panther, Cap. Marvel, Spider-man back at Marvel, Inhumans, GotG 2....the list goes on. Each piece building on the others, connecting, telling a story....

Then there's DC: the Dark Knight movies (1 & 2 great, 3 not so much), Man of Steel, the new "beginning", then BVS, Suicide Squad, JL, WW, etc. 3 TV shows that are excellent from what I hear, but have nothing to do with the DCEU. I think DC is trying to run, when they need to learn to walk....sometimes you can't skip steps on the learning curve.

I hope all these movies do well, but for now, Make Mine Marvel :D[/QUOT

I agree Marvel has a lot of depth dc too black and white love them both but Marvel rules

Oh shit!?! If that is the definition of being a nerd, I may not be one. Accidental celibacy sucks!

I have no problem getting women I have the body of a football player great with words but I at times act like the guys from Big Bang Theory

I dunno. You completely forgot to list Green Lantern! I mean, Ryan Reynolds!!! Wait. No. You didn't forget it. ;)
I wonder if Nathan Fillion would have done better? He's awesome! But, he's getting up there in age, and a bit round in the middle. Not sure he'd look good in spandex. He's awesome in the animated stuff! Don't misunderstand me. And he will always be "Captain Tightypants".

I think Nathan Fililon was born to play GL....ten yrs ago. By now, we would be on GL 4 (maybe 5) and yes, he would be older, so it would make sense for him to "retire", allowing for a new actor to take on the GL role (John Stewart GL, or any of the others). Total missed opportunity here.....

I agree with this too - Fillion would have been a perfect choice 10 years ago. I also feel that Brad Pitt would have been an excellent Gambit 10 years ago as well. It seems that Channing Tatum will play that character now. Not sure how I feel about that!

I don't think the guy that played Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine did a bad job, it was just a crap script, and not enough screen time....introducing that actor now ( a little older) in say a future Deadpool/ X-Force movie would work for me

The DCEU movies will probably make money, but I don't think they'll stand the test of time. Even though these are both comic giants the Marvel movies are more expertly crafted. Partially because Marvel studios has this down and partially because DC is cutting corners trying to play catch up because neither studio knows when these movies will stop making money. But looking back 8 years iron man is still enjoyable to watch, the stand alone batman movies (which is not canon to the DCEU), are still enjoyable to watch but I don't think the superman movies will be. Wonder woman is going to be stupidly controversial when in reality it'll be harmless and I think they'll fade away because both DC comics and the DC movies keep rebooting.....

Yesssss Nerds have arrived and are taking over the Playground Marvel all the way.

MUCH BETTER!!!
Thanks. I lost my mojo earlier. Work issues.

I may very well be the world's most only computer illiterate nerd.
Yours?

Glad that you're better today was a little rough as well. We like you with your mojo in place especially my mini me

that I think will be the downfall of comic movies; the constant reboots, each time trying to retell the same story....Spider-man/ FF/ Batman/ Superman have all suffered from this

Spidermans and FF was actually so that the movie rights didn't revert back to Marvel, the leasing rights end prematurely if the studios don't use them for X amount of years. Batman and superman is the DC mandate at work, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to make a crisis.......
If Marvel does one in the mid 2020's I don't think anyone would complain actors age so doing reboots or making a legacy hero mandate would be acceptable.

Wise nan even though Marvel keeps making mistakes. They pissing me off can't make the greatest Villian in Marvel right. Come on what's up with Doctor Doom.

That's Sony not marvel. Spiderman and FF are leased by Sony, and Sony wants to keep them because they see the cash, they keep reaching for it and while they have limited success with spiderman they keep bombing with FF.

All true, and good points. Marvel Studios (now part of Disney) understood that character development and story were just as important as action/ special effects. That's what made Phase 1 work so well.

I still think DC is trying to jump the gun, and go right to the finish line, instead of build their universe.....
