Welcome
SC2 is better than T4, but VF4E is better than all. :)

Erm no! VF physics suck majorly and lets face it the tidy dragon spear is the only good thing about it;) Only joking I think all the games have a place tbh.

*Whips out lappy* So whats going on this evening then?

Wow! A lot sure has happened while I was gone all day at classes. Sometimes I wish I had a laptap so that I could post a little bit in between classes. That would be fun to check in once and a while.
In the light of fighting games, a fun but not that great fighting game was Ergheiz, or how ever that was spelled. It wasn't that great of a fighter game, but it was so much fun to play as Cloud and beat the crap out of Tifa (*is an avid Tifa hater*), or play as Sephiroth and kick Cloud's cute little ass. :p
I haven't played many fighting games, but even if I did, the Tekkens would probably still be my favorite. :)

I'm back from work and I see all these poking sticks ^_~ you better put them away or I might be tempted to do something with them (no worries CG, I'll let you watch hehehe)

Any street fighter game with Sakura ranks up there for me, as well as Soul Blade & Caliber. Never was much of a fighting game person, but the few that I love I'm pretty good at.

My normal idea of a party is one with some wings, some movies, and a few good friends. I'm not normally one to get crazy like a Mardi Gras thing, but if I was really hyper for some reason, I would probably do stuff. Like that time in Myrtle Beach where I really really wanted to flash for beads once my friends mentioned the idea....then they told me that they had already gone... :( It's still on my list of things to do. I've outdone them all though, I've shown my breasts on the internet! (along with other things... )

Morning guys.

GC - I was only playing Erghiez a few weeks ago! :) I never got really into it but it was pretty good.

The Street Fighter games will always hold a special place in my life, I went through a lot with Ryu and the gang:D Does not seem like over 10 years ago when I started playing them, and will I ever stop?

I've been playing way too much of the new unreal tourney demo of late, Much to the distress of my GeekGirl but hey a geeks gotta do what a geeks gotta do.

Right I better get on with some work done . Catch you all in a while.

Ergheiz was ok, but a bit too simple for my tastes. Powerstone has been the only fighter of similar vein I truly enjoyed, but it was very simple as well.

Tekken I hold in high regard still. I still play Tekken Tag Tournament and Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution daily. :)

Hard to beat a good game of SF. :D
Ah, I agree I have been playing the UT2k4 demo *A LOT*. Not a huge step up from UT2k3, but still hella fun to play.

Now back to trying to figure out what MMORPG I wanna spend my money on right now.

Does anybody know when they're going to release a Tekken game that can go "online" with the PS2? I think it would be so cool to go on and play aginst all you other litsters, and "the asian crew" that everybody keeps talking about. As I said I'm pretty much un-beatiable in TTT in my area (espically on a console), and I would LOVE to see how I stack up aginst the rest of the world. My can you imagine the online tournaments? Damn I'm getting all hot and bothered just thinking about it (or it could be all of CG's mighty fine pics doing that to me, I'm not quite sure).

Either way I'm still totally stoked for Gran Turismo 4 being online. I'm thinking of picking up the online adapter just to play that game. It's going to be sweet.

I doubt the next tekken will be online, local tournaments are always fun. As for playing against some of the Asian players they are very high class, same with the Korean players, with TTT at that level you only ever see Tier 1 matches with although very intense can be a little boring. I play tekken 4 more now, but when I do play TTT I need to be playing the full speed jap version, the timing is all wrong on the shoddy UK conversions so taking your skill to the arcade is difficult. Especially when at the tournaments that I played in at uni you had to play on a pad and with the damage at max rather than the default so everything’s off balance:(
</rant>

Right I have a brief meeting for an hour or so, I will be forced to leave my office and venture into the light of the meeting room:(

If your looking for a MMORPG take a look at Horizons, if I was to join back into MMORPG thats probubly where I would start playing.

SF will always hold a place in my heart behind CG and below Chrono Trigger ^_^

I always had to have Chrono. Then I usually had Merle, mainly because I had used her so much in the beginning that her healing was better than Frog's, and I was too lazy to up his abilities. The last person cycled around like a game of musical chairs. Sometimes it was Ayla, sometimes it was Lucca, sometimes it was Magus. Then on rare occasions would it be Frog or the Robot dude (sorry, I almost never used him, so I don't even remember the name...remember....played it once). Probably not the best choices for a team, but those were the characters I liked the best at the time. :rose:

The robot dudes name was Robo (or Prometheus if you finished one of the side quests). Not a bad team, it's the team most people use to beat the game their first time. You should try it again and get a few of the sidequests, some of them give some nice insights on the story (since I'm not sure off the top of my head how many of them you finished)

I would have to disagree slightly. I don't find those Tier 1 intense matches borring at all. For a spectator then yes, they can seem borring *player 1 throws a flurry, they get blocked, player 2 tries to counter, but those are blocked, lather, rince, repeat*. However for the people that actuially play the game, and are at a level above the "average and/or casual player" then those matches are exciting, because we know that just one mistake can cause you to loose the match, or get hurt, or anything like that. It's like most people find a good ju-jitsu match rather borring, because all they see are two guys looking like they're dry-humping each other with their gi's on. But for those of us "in the know" we look for different things, the positioning, leverage, loose body parts.

I think it all comes down to how much you can pick up from the match that determines how exciting it is. Just my $0.02 though, take it for what you will.

It's all based on your percpetive, just as Tapout says. If you understand what is happening the way those who are fighting understand it, then it brings the fight to a whole new level (or perspective). Just my two cents.

-Zergplex

Tap, I agree with you on several points; some of the matches at this level can be a little less than what most people would expect if they are only casual gamers and rightly said there is a lot to be gained by analysing these matches. My problem comes in that I though I play with a large selection of the cast (as do most people) but like most other core players I play with a small group of the better characters (TTT I go for the Mishima's, Michelle and Nina, I know I should be playing with ogre’s and Devil/Angel but they don’t appeal to me) .

What I meant was, when you get to a certain level then only Tier one characters are really viable so although the matches do become very standoffish they are still exciting, but when the matches come to just tap and turtle there is only so much you can learn since the timing is the same and thus it is down to one person making a mistake. It doe's get the adrenaline going though agreed! It was the way I phrased it that put it in the wrong context

I suppose the way out of this would be to make all the characters much more balanced to allow for a greater variety match ups. I’m still hoping we will see TTT2 before T5, hopefully one of these should clear up the balance issues lets hope its not rushed.

Nothing will ever clear up the balance issues, because as soon as one set of characters is balanced someone else will be thrown off. It's just the way fighting games work, I have no faith they will ever completely 'balance' the characters, it's impossible.

I did all but the last side quest, so yeah, I did get a lot of the insights. I'll probably play it again, eventually, when I get around to it...in a few years. :p
