you know i figured this thread would be more active than it was. /me goes to check the start date and figure the average posts per day.

well lets see approximately 5 years old at 365 days a year gives us about 1825 days. So with 21400 posts in that time the average would be 11 to 12 a day. Yep we are slacking.

Indeed. But let me regale you with a tale. A tale of a date gone exceptionally well. A date that I had tonight, in fact, and with a girl who, if she frequented these forums, would feel most at home in this thread.

So I met this girl online, on a terrible dating website that will not be named. Originally, what drew me in was her cute pictures and the fact she liked Dr. Who, Torchwood, and the Dresden Files and was not afraid to admit it. So we started talking, and I found out a bit about her, and the more I found out, the more I liked.

So we decided to plan to meet. She proposed meeting at Starbuck's. I said sure, but then looked where we were meeting, and decided that we should probably meet somewhere else, given we were meeting right after work. So I suggested dinner, and she agreed. I called her the night before meeting her, and while it was a bit awkward, it was nice, and she had a nice voice.

So the day came, and I went over to the restaurant after work. I peered in to make sure there was enough seating for the two of us and saw a girl at a table who was quite attractive from behind. She was a bit chubby, but that's great, so am I and I don't mind that. So I stood outside for about five minutes, waiting for her to show up. She texted me asking where I was, and I said outside. She told me she was already inside, so I went inside to meet her.

She was damn attractive. Incredibly cute face, and everything she had complemented her, including her glasses. I sat down, and we talked. We ate and talked. Drank and talked. Sat and talked. We talked for two hours. We talked about a whole range of things, and I found out that while she hasn't seen Babylon 5, she's seen a number of other shows, and loves so many that I do. She loves the original trilogy of Star Wars (without the SE changes), the Indiana Jones trilogy (without the fourth one), BSG, ST:TNG, and a bunch of others.

So we parted ways after two hours, her to take the LRT home, and I to take the bus. I got home, and checked my e-mail, and she had sent me an e-mail to make sure I knew that she had a great time and really wanted to see me again.

I really like this girl.

High-Five!

On an unrelated note: ENDEX!

(For those of you not in the Air Force, this is one of the happiest words an Airman can hear. Short for "End Exercise", meaning that this week of 12 hour shifts in chem-warfare gear is DONE!)

Of course, now we start getting ready for the *next* exercise. -_-

Thank you, Tex, and good to hear that your exercise is done. Hopefully, you'll get some time off to have some fun for a bit.

Well, the exercises aren't that bad, except for when we have to stay in MOPP4 for a while. The mask gets rather uncomfortable after about 20-30 minutes, especially if some part of it is sitting weird on your face or if you tightened it too much. I usually end up with a splitting headache after about 45 minutes or so from it. It's also freaking hot, but there's a way to drink water with the mask on (special tube in the mask, it's pretty neat).

The worst part, as you might imagine, is needing to use the bathroom. Not happening in the suit. It's generally agreed that the most common thought after hearing "GAS GAS GAS ALARM RED MOPP FOUR!" is not "HOLYCRAPIDON'TWANNADIE!" but rather "DAMMIT, I NEED TO PEE!"

Sounds better than I am doing with the girl I am trying to get a date with. Lets just say its not the best time of the year to try to get a date with a tax accountant.

Ah, if only it had gone as well afterwards for me. See, she decided within the span of a week that she would rather date someone who worked in a field similar to her own. Which left me SOL.

We love nerds, perhaps there is a geeky little librarian needing to do some research in our wine cellar...

Nerdocity.

Hooray, nerds!

Currently on a boring business trip to the east coast, luckily i managed to convince my boss I needed an i5 and nVidia card in my work laptop. I just have for all the other pervs in the hotel to fall asleep before I can suck up the shared bandwidth for gaming.

*nods*

So, is it weird that I'm geeking out over a new chin strap that I got for my kevlar helmet? This one's much more comfortable than the old strap, and easier to adjust, though I can't say I'm exactly pleased with the placement of the nape pad.

*is tackled with the best kind of luvvin's there is!*

Hey Pappykins!!! How's she hangin'??? :D
