Had a nasty fantasy comic book related chat last night and felt I should come show the colours.

Hi; I am Baccus and am a Nerd, really more a geek. A nerd is more a socially awkward die hard academic, geeks are just obsessed with media that popular culture has yet to fully embrace. Primary difference being nerds have better jobs.

If I can raise my daughter to have the common sense of The Big Bang Theory's Penny, the intellect of NCIS's Abby, & the self-sufficient strength of Ziva, then I will have done good for everyone

While I love all those characters, I'd be very wary of hoping my daughter turns out anything like the one of them that was taking a pregnancy test in high school and has managed to have horrible taste in men except for one exception, and has absolutely no decent prospects for her future.

Perhaps a better common sense indicator might be Beckett from Castle or Brennen from Bones?

I am a vehement word nerd. Orwell was wrong; New Speak isn't getting rid of the synonomous words to limit distinctive ideas its the reduction of the distinctive conotation of words with similar denotation until we are left a with language of vaugaries.

Don't be hating on a word nerd. I will never quit the fight against beige words.

I wasn't into it, I keep meaning to check out the BBC version. I figure it's probably better.

Brennan is too anti social though! Beckett from Castle is badass, and uber hot!

But the only quality we're looking for is common sense, not social skills.

Additionally, I don't see Brennan as anti social. Sheldon is anti-social, unless he has a use for you there's just no point in you being around which is why he has a very distinct social group. On the other hand Brennan has a wide variety of friends as well as being respected by her peers and co-workers. In some instances she might be socially awkward, but part of her work is literally being social. You can't go out to study other cultures or assist in needy areas without being very social.
