People who know me will know that i'm a game freak. I stayed up till 1 am to get the new Call of duty! I have a bigger game collection then my boyfriend XD. And I'm OBSESSED WITH BOOKS. Sort of an all gamers are nerds but not all nerds are gamers. Though its not really that all encompassing.

Note that the interests of nerds and geeks often overlap. Most nerds enjoy the more intellectual forms of science fiction and most geeks have a higher knowledge of science or encyclopedic data than the general population.

However, I'm also of the mind that people who are concerned about the actual definition difference between geek and nerd are snobs who are just looking to start arguments.

But at least you got it out of your system and now we can continue to go on using them completely interchangeably as we have for the other 300 odd pages of this thread and probably most of our lives.

Well, most of us are not from 1954 were "nerd" had a more clearly defined meaning than today. Words may stay the same but the meaning changes Some people prefer being called geeks, some prefer nerds. And if only one of said groups were allowed in this thread, there would not be a thread anymore.
(Also, both geek and nerd is the same term in my native language so I rarely can be bothered to use them differently in English.)

But coming in here, correcting us because we speak like most other people instead of based off the 1954 definitions (you know, back when being queer wasn't about sexuality), that does not give a very good first impression.
And yes, you can say what you want. But to make sure this tread works whenever somebody new asks "am I a nerd" the answer is "If you feel like one. Everybody's welcome." Thus, your desire for putting specific labels on everybody makes us rather uncomfortable.
Personally, I'm not sure I fit neither label, I'm very much somewhere in between, and your comment make me re-think if I should be in this thread where I'm the one with the most posts. If you get Carnage to leave too, the thread is dead (as top 3-5 have left as well, damn I miss them!)

Maybe you didn't mean anything bad with this but you sound like an oldschool socially awkward nerd to me. Think about what you say before you say them.
There're some awesome people here and some of them have gotten shit about being nerds/geeks/not-jocks all their lives. Due to that we tend to make sure nobody splits us up against each other. We let everybody join and try to make people feel welcome here. We're usually nice to everybody.
But don't lecture us on who we are and don't try to divide us.
