Biologists in Canada have made a medical enzyme using genetically-engineered corn, a feat that could one day slash the cost of treating a life-threatening inherited disease, a journal reported on Tuesday.

The existing drug for MPS 1, laronidase (marketed as Aldurazyme) costs around $300,000 annually for children and $1 million for adults.

HOLY CRAP!

Before sr71 starts up the "Where's the Erotica," routine, I had a bunny.

Perhaps the change in our society, creates a man/woman who finds splicing genes in (?) soy to create the perfect "Viaga", or something like, that later is found to be the Fountain of Youth, as perverts who OD on the stuff, their ageing starts to reverse!

Monsanto, is frantic, it's not their patent! They lobby congress, to prevent the sale of such dangerous manipulations!

Congress freezes, they have to make a decision? Oh no, they are too busy, eating syn-soy to do much but filibuster, so Monsanto gets a court order to prevent the sale of product.

The FDA urges caution and the syn-soy is withdrawn from the market.

Enter the syn soy smugglers, who sample the product as it passes through their hands. Syn-soy is on every street corner and even cultivated in clandestine farms.

Things stabilize, the masses can get their supply on the black market, the FDA doesn't have enough agents to cover even New York to prevent the traffic and the DEA, has no authority! Monsanto is happy because they have time to reverse engineer the gene splicing, Congress is happy, because they didn't have to make a decision and antagonize 90% of the Voters.

Ten years down the road, the FDA is beginning to catch smugglers who seem to be 11 or 12 years old. Even people who stop eating it keep getting younger.

Karl Rove can't see over his dash board and keeps loosing bowel control, making him, unattractive to the 1% who try to find a candidate who didn't eat the Syn-Soy and who would still be 35 when his term was over.

Who will save the country and indeed the world?
